Brad Paisley's New Album Has a Name: 'Moonshine In the Trunk' (Exclusive)
Air Force One landed at Bagram Air Field, the main U.S. base in Afghanistan, after an overnight flight from Washington. Obama was scheduled to spend just a few hours on the base and had no plans to travel to Kabul, the capital, to meet with Hamid Karzai, the mercurial president who has had a tumultuous relationship with the White House.
Obama was accompanied by a few advisers, including senior counselor John Podesta, whose son is serving in Afghanistan. Also along was country singer Brad Paisley, who was to perform for U.S. troops.

On his FB page he posted a picture of himself standing in front of AF 1. Of course many people are giving him backlash because of the President. One "fan" even said he would never forgive Paisley for riding with that "n" ONLY he wrote it out like it was nothing. Some people just don't get it.

(3,428 posts)I was referring to the POTUS going to Afghanistan to meet with the troops as the hollow gesture.
when bush did it it was a hollow gesture. but it was the man that was hollow. not the gesture.
and yeah, al franken went to entertain the troops before he was a senator, and most of us thought it was great thing to do. he put his country above his politics, and respected the troops.
its the nuanced, liberal, smart assed way to see it.

(14,914 posts)Apparently giving some cheer and a morale boost to troops in harm's way is a "hollow gesture," unlike complaining about it on the internet.
