Does it exist on an institutional basis?
No and no. Which is why it's a red herring- a transparent one at that- in discussions about its impact.
When you start in on it, you reveal something none too pretty.

(21,115 posts)i have said all along....if you think they hate minorities.....wait till a woman runs. They are even more threatened by women.....because women are actually a majority. If women ever realize this and start weilding that power....they are toast as far as being "the kings" of everyone else!

Are discussions of the various problems and hassles, from inconveniences up to rape, labeled as misandry by those who want to stop discussion of those issues?
Absolutely.

(34 posts)I'm trying to think of a situation when women are allowed to stand up for themselves, without the risk of being accused of "militant feminism." Hmmmm.... we can stand up for our children, and society is okay with that. We can stand up for our husbands, and society is usually okay with that. We can stand up for religion, and society love us (as long as it's Christianity). We can stand up for "family values," and society's good with that.
But stand up for ourselves? I don't think that's allowed. If anyone can think of a situation in which a woman has been allowed to stand up for herself, or in which a group of women have been allowed to stand up for themselves, without facing the wrath of society, I'd like to hear about it.
