Looking at the protest photos and I am left wondering..Why so few whites?

The murder of Trayvon Martin isn't about race. It was for George Zimmerman. That is plain for all to see and hear. For the rest of us, this murder should be about Trayvon Martin's rights. This beautiful child had every right to be walking down the street. He had every right to be left alone. George Zimmerman violated every one of his rights and yet he remains free to continue to enjoy his. Justice is not a black/white issue, yet I don't see an even representation of people standing up for this child. I know so many whites who believe that this murder is a complete injustice, so why the lack of representation on the ground? Where are all the high profile folks? I don't see them standing beside the Reverend Al. We need to come together in all ways to get justice for this child...this beautiful child.

(I shouldn't have to say it ...but I am a white female)

child is killed by some gun nut? To make it easy for you, someone who is whiter that zimmy because you're fooling yourself if you believe that the only children at risk are black and brown. They may be at MORE risk but it WILL HAPPEN. how will you feel then? Because these people aren't just marching for black male children but by extension, ALL CHILDREN who are unlucky enough to catch rounds from inbred, idiotic, cowardly morons who believe that the solution to everything they either don't understand, (WHICH ENCOMPASSES QUITE A BIT OF THE WORLD) or frightens them is a firearm and large calibre rounds?

Don't worry, I'll wait for your answer. I don't expect to be surprised or shocked, BTW.

(of which Hispanics are lumped in, for reasons I can only speculate ) to be the victims of murder. The vast, vast majority of their killers are also Black! Same with "Whites" (and again, I wonder how many of the remaining killers of BP are Hispanics and it's due to gang problems).

You really came out of the woodwork on this issue for some odd reason. Are you putting on your marching shoes and heading over to Miami and protesting the mindless thugs who shoot up funerals? Until BP address killings in the 'hood, expect to not see the type of White representation you wish for...

and ask you the A-C-T-U-A-L-L-Y think and answer the question. You can do that, right? AND, unlike you, I'm not wishing for ANYONE to die tragically but I'm sure, given the RW inhumane hatred for other human beings, I suppose it's comes naturally. However, why don't you try? HMM? BTW, I'm on the WEST COAST, dear and I don't live in the 'Hood... Kind of hard to march to Miami BUT I tell you what.... You can bet your sweet bippy that I would march to protest the senseless murder of anyone, even you.

If anyone came out of the woodwork, it was you, I've been a member quite a few years. Can you answer that question or is it too difficult? Take your time, I'll wait.

(hmm, not too many blacks in that GANG) and while they were at the cemetary, another WHITE BIKER GANG MEMBER rode up, pulled a gun and shot the joint up. Killed another Gang member. I'll let you guess what color he was? I'm sure you'll find some way to twist it into a black gangster in white face, hair, body and REPUTATION. NOT black person involved. Hells Angels+ cemetary shootings and murders. Now, what were you saying? Oh, and in the case that your small, twisted mind finds it difficult to believe me,....GOOGLE IS YOUR FRIEND.

Isn't that funny? Doesn't seem to matter what color people are because criminality runs throughout all MANKIND, wunderkind! Still waiting for you reply.

Critical Thinking as Defined by the National Council for Excellence in Critical Thinking, 1987
A statement by Michael Scriven & Richard Paul for the
{presented at the 8th Annual International Conference on Critical Thinking and Education Reform, Summer 1987}.

Critical thinking is the intellectually disciplined process of actively and skillfully conceptualizing, applying, analyzing, synthesizing, and/or evaluating information gathered from, or generated by, observation, experience, reflection, reasoning, or communication, as a guide to belief and action. In its exemplary form, it is based on universal intellectual values that transcend subject matter divisions: clarity, accuracy, precision, consistency, relevance, sound evidence, good reasons, depth, breadth, and fairness.

I do believe that Zimmerman is obviously guilty of homicide. He did pull the trigger. He put himself into a situation that resulted in the death of an unarmed teenager. He seemingly used poor judgement. All he needed to do was report this individual to law enforcement. He put himself in a situation that resulted in the unnecessary death of Trayvon. I can understand how a young black male, or anyone for that matter, being followed and likely scared would and some point stop and stand his ground. He may have felt that the only way to get out of the situation and not be harmed would be to strike first and eliminate the threat. A potentially valid decision based upon how threatened Trayvon may have felt. Like I said, Zimmerman is without a doubt guilty of homicide. BUT, it is up to the judicial system to decide if this was self-defense, manslaughter or murder.

So why few whites standing by Reverend Sharpton? Apathy? Racism? Not me. I can only speak for myself. Only a fool would fail to recognize that racism is alive and well in this country. And only a fool would deny the possibility that Trayvons killing was racially motivated. But do you really know for sure? Reverend Sharpton, in your heart and mind do you really know? And as a mere human that cannot read hearts and minds, Reverend have you ever misjudged before? Tawana Brawley anyone?

No, I will not stand by any individual that that is willing to label a situation racial just because the individuals involved are of different races. He was wrong before. The stakes are too high. Summer race riots anyone? And anyone relying on biased media viewpoints on either side, slow down. The facts will sift out.

Perhaps the most distasteful thing since Trayvons killing, is that it will be used by some black leadership who assume they speak for the majority of blacks, to further their own personal or political agenda.

Anyway Klukie, your sentiments are beautifully written. But open your eyes. Nothing is so plain as you state. Only one person REALLY knows if this was racially motivated, Zimmerman. Anyone else who claims to know for sure at this point is deluding themselves. That's what race hucksters are counting on.

Some things are very plain. The statement that we all heard on the call Zimmerman made to police. "Fucking coon"...can't get anymore racially motivated than that. Aside from Zimmerman's motivations, if you believe that he is guilty of murder and if you believe that he is getting away with it then you stand up...period. People, regardless of color, should never be unable to stand up for what is right. My eyes are wide open and I really don't like what I see.

"Photography implies that we know about the world if we accept it as the camera records it. But this is the opposite of understanding, which starts from not accepting the world as it looks. All possibility of understanding is rooted in the ability to say no. Strictly speaking, one never understands anything from a photograph."
