(153,111 posts)it's an observation of the state of DU, when a certain group of posters excuses the most sickening, destructive actions but gets their panties in a wad over a fucking cartoon

(89,239 posts)Ears .
the telepromter thing is racist and it's attack is on an entire people based on race. to attack this president over something that others regularly use. just like they attack his family for having secret service protection.
Skittles
(153,111 posts)not everyone sees it that way

(153,111 posts)now get past what THEY think and try to understand the ACTUAL CARTOON

(9,083 posts)It doesn't really work, as George used a teleprompter too, and still managed to screw his up. It's really a minor dis with no bearing in reality. You really shouldn't get so overwrought about such things.

(101,264 posts)Watermelons have long been used as part of racist jokes. Teleprompters have not.
BuelahWitch
(9,083 posts)The watermelon cartoon I can see, but if I am wrong, people of all races might use a teleprompter. Old W couldn't even speechificate with one, but he used it. The cartoonists also drew George II with big ears. If he's AA it's news to me...
JI7
(89,239 posts)yes everyone uses the telepromter but it's been regularly used as an attack on this President.
BuelahWitch
(9,083 posts)No one mentioned the other until you did just now. Your peers need to teach you how to argue better.

(16,184 posts)Sure, maybe it's implying that Obama isn't terrific at making speeches without it, but that isn't racist, it's just stupid in face of evidence to the contrary.

(36,392 posts)The dinos and the BOG have kind of made a tactical retreat to a position from where they shout racist at any criticism of the president. It's demeaning to everyone that this is happening

(3,284 posts)Should make a poll where everybody could react to Obama's policies, 1 by 1.
Include:
Education/Charter schools/Race-to-the-Top
Drones
Wall st/financial policy/Geitner/Paulson
Iraq/Afghanistan withdrawal
Voting rights
Medical Cannabis
Trade Deals
NSA metaspying
Renewable energy
Iran (resisting war)
Syria (not bombing)
Climate change
Response to Occupy protests
Immigration
Child/school nutrition
Keystone Pipeline
Gay marriage/Gay rights in general
ACA
Support for Labor Unions
Minimum wage
Net Neutrality (Tom Wheeler's appointment, etc)
1 or 2 other issues (I'm sure I missed something)
================================================================ -----
Such a poll would give folks the chance to agree/disagree
with Obama's policies on a case-by-case basis.
How about it?
OnyxCollie

(3,284 posts)I would welcome a chance to help illustrate how out of the mainstream this administration is headed.
Nothing short of wholesale condemnation of the Obama Administration by Democrats can turn this ship of state around. And even then.

Do not ask me about the TPP.i hate trade deals because i think we suck at them. I prefer to just give America back to the Natives and ask them what to do and beg them not to deport us.

Maybe if they would have taken the time to fucking learn from Native Americans how to live with nature, the world would not now be fucked up to the point of a near term human extinction events.

(34,648 posts)So true, indeed. We do not know what we are doing.
My mother thinks we are going to kill each other off through various means and only mostly aboriginal people will be able to survive and repopulate the earth. I believe her. She keeps farming manuals and nursing manuals just in case whoever survives needs them.

(24,692 posts)The European right strongly opposes trade deals with the US (as well as immigration, the EU and pretty much anything else that has anything to do with foreigners.) The US far right (tea party edition) opposes the UN, the WTO, TPP and TTIP, immigration reform and pretty much anything else that has anything to do with foreigners. I suspect the Asian right feels the same way as their American and European 'brothers'.
France's Front National leader Marine Le Pen will meet other far-right and eurosceptic leaders on Wednesday in an attempt to create a powerful bloc in the European parliament.
Le Pen insisted the party's score was an unqualified victory despite an abstention rate of 57%. She demanded that France call a halt to talks between the European Union and the United States to create a vast free market, known as the Transatlantic Trade Treaty.
"I clearly call on the president of the Republic, firstly the dissolution of the Assemblée Nationale, because you know it is no longer at all representative of the French people," Le Pen said.
"I also demand that he does three things to take Sunday's vote into account: firstly, France halts the transatlantic treaty, secondly, France states its veto of Turkey's entry into the European Union and, thirdly, he nationalises Alstom, contrary to the rules of the European Union, to save this strategic company."
