As my political mentor Mary Jane Hollyday said about the earlier days of this Republic, “you all had the right thing going...women and %*^^@#s should have stayed out of it”.

"%*^^@#s"

Singular: "%*^^@#"

So, what unprintable word is six letters long with a double letter in the middle AND would be in the similar vein of women not being allowed to vote?

Hmmm....

Oh! "nigger".

Whew, glad I figured that one out.

They're coming right out and saying it now, aren't they? That's what they're all about: racism and sexism. These people make me sick. What bothers me most is that they really hold themselves above the rest of us. Geez. They're pitiful.

they were completely freaked out that President Obama won. There was thread after thread, for weeks, talking about who shouldn't be allowed to vote anymore. Women and African Americans were just for starters. But yes, women are always first on the list. One thing you'll never see over there - no one ever suggests that women ought to be exempted from paying taxes after we've been deprived of our right to vote.

My own daughter warned me about this when she was in high school, a good conservative as we raised her. I tried to defend the 19th Amendment by pointing out smart girls such as her. She retorted that the airheads in her class had her kind outnumbered at least 2-1.

Well, Vigilanteman, hows about you do your good old Conservative duty and tell your daughter and all of her 'airheads' to not clog up the polls then. Win/win.

think that women are second class citizens does not mean it is going to come to pass.

You are right, though, we must get people out to vote, and get the right candidates in. The only power they have is what we allow them to have.

although they have some. Same with racism, et al.

What I've noticed over the years is that conservatives have a "whatever it takes to win" and "the end justifies the means" attitude towards politics.

You can compare it to religious fundamentalism or a crazed sports team fanatic.

Take the climate change "debate", they have mentally convinced themselves that all the worlds scientists are participating in a vast global conspiracy led by Al Gore that includes lying and falsifying decades of data, all for continued funding or political beliefs.

Unfortunately, their ability to rationalize and self-deceive are far more dangerous than all the other "isms" combined.

Attn freepers;
The war on women isn't exactly new..... The notions that women should be better 'used' by a nation at home making babies and unencumbered by politics is well reflected in this speech by Joseph Goebbels.

http://www.calvin.edu/academic/cas/gpa/goeb55.htm

He too felt women should be removed from all matters political.
Please read his speech, take note where your views align with his, then ask yourself if this alignment is good for democracy.

The 19th Amendment was the turning point in the history of the US. After that, government just got bigger and bigger and more intrusive... because women kept up the drumbeat for more, more, more, more.

It isn’t just the US, BTW. If you can read German or French, check out some of the writing on this topic in Switzerland. Same results. Women want government to be their Sugar Daddy. There are, of course, exceptions, but where we’re talking about the majority of women... they like their Sugar Daddy big and intrusive.
