Medical examiner ‘lost woman’s brain and told family the day before funeral organ was removed’

April 1, 2012 By MrsKnoetal

A grieving sister was told on the eve of her sister’s funeral that her brain had been removed, giving her little choice but to bury her sister without the organ.

The Medical Examiner’s Office in Brooklyn allegedly lost the brain of a woman in her 60s while performing an autopsy on her.

The woman died unexpectedly in January.

that feel if you don't have all your bits with you when you die, you won't go to heaven (or where ever their belief system thinks they go).

I've never been able to figure out how that works for people who lose bits before they die - or for the poor sods who get blown into a multitude of tiny pieces. There must be a workaround for the requirement . . .

Years ago, my son passed away suddenly and unexpectedly from natural causes. An autopsy was required because the cause of death was not apparent. His brain and I believe some other organs were removed and sent for more in-depth examination, by a specialist even though they did determine the cause of his death at the autopsy.

We were not told about the organs being removed and did not learn about it until we received the coroners report six weeks later. They never told us what happens to the brain after the examination.
