The parents of Trayvon Martin are asking the feds to investigate the state prosecutor who overruled the cop who wanted to arrest their son’s killer.

On the night of the killing, State's Attorney Norm Wolfinger reportedly nixed efforts by Sanford, Fla., Police Detective Chris Serino to charge George Zimmerman with manslaughter.

The Martin family will send a formal request for a review of Wolfinger’s actions to the Justice Department on Monday, lawyer Ben Crump told CNN Sunday.

Citing a report from the black community news site TheGrio.com that Wolfinger was at the Sanford police station that night to make the call in person, Crump said something was fishy.

..."WHAT connections?"

The key element, which has been known for quite some time now, is that

"Wolfinger was at the Sanford police station that night to make the call in person."

Outside of pure coincidence, that's almost unheard of...a state prosecutor who "just happened to be at" a local PD in time to squash Zimmerman's arrest?

Of COURSE someone made a call.

Was it Daddy? Most likely. But if not, Wolfinger did not "just happen to be there." And even if he did, all of the evidence that's come out doesn't add up to "self defense" on Zimmerman's part.

Plus, there are a LOT of details...like Wolfinger "conveniently" being at the station. Most people who have casually followed the story probably wouldn't know that, and if they did, probably didn't know what Zimmerman's parents did for a living and the fact that his felony assault of a police officer got knocked down to a misdemeanor by a "court clerk." They probably also don't know about the details of his past brushes with the law or his overall instability.

And I hope he can expose the lying that goes on as they try to make cases. In this case it is reverse lying. I hope the people who serve on juries get a whiff of this. I thought Holder was already investigating.

From The Grio:

Wolfinger's presence at the scene or at the police department in the night of a shooting would be unusual, according to the source. On a typical case, police contact the state attorney's office and speak with an on duty assistant state attorney; they either discuss the matter by phone or the on duty assistant state attorney comes to the crime scene - but rarely the state attorney him or herself.

We can probably make one safe assumption, and that is that Wolfinger PROBABLY did not say "I think I'll mosey on over to the Sanford PD and hang around until they need me to void out an arrest."

He had no reason to be there...unless he had a reason to be there, you know?

Somebody made a phone call, and it probably began with Dad.

If the father and brother went to the media with "evidence," will they be asked to testify if this goes to trial? And will they tell the truth under oath? I can't imagine Pappy Zim saying "I wanted to protect my son so I made a few calls." That may be exactly what happened, but it will hinge on the skills of the Martin family's legal team.

What other "witnesses" are still out there, waiting to share their truth or lies? We shall see.

Obstruction of justice. A police officer also is looking at witness tampering for "correcting" an eye witness account. Not sure what charges could stem from the police report that lines up with Zimmerman's account.

Dad is a mover and shaker in the party and a donor.

Since he was elected, even in another state, he'd also be able to mentor people. I am sure he's well plugged into the local power elite.

The fricken LEAD INVESTIGATOR called bullshit on Zimmerman, yet Wolfinger STILL decided not to move forward. Why did he drive 50 miles on a Sunday night to the station? As other DUers have stated, that's not just unusual, it stinks to high heaven.

It's time to stop coddling corrupt government officials. People like Cheney commit war crimes and get off scott free and it's no wonder that people like Wolfinger feel a sense of entitlement.

Prosecute him and throw his ass in jail.

..."Why did you drive 50 miles on a Sunday night to the station?"

It's a question that should have already been asked (and answered), but his highly unorthodox actions need to be accounted for..."State's Attorney" or not. No one is immune from the law.

Of course this morning at the market I had a former military corpsman explain he used surgical glue in Afghanistan. I am sure he did, military medicine, as I explained to him, and folks here, not in the scope of practice of urban EMS.

It is easy to find out if Judge Zimmerman made special calls. Just subpoena them and then find out where the calls went and when they went out. Piece of cake.

obviously looking into Trayvon's background is irrelevant, and frankly looking at Zimmerman is getting less and less useful.

I'm seeing Zimmerman's friends and family on TV, I say what's the point? Are we trying him in the media? All these TV people, are they trying to talk to Norman Wolfinger and Bill Lee? My guess is they are reluctant to go down that road. Safer to focus on nobodies like Trayvon and George Zimmerman.
