I loved the books (well, let's not talk about the last two). And this HBO Series is one of the best I've ever seen.
If you haven't watched it, you should.
For one hour tonight, I won't be thinking about the atrocities of this world. There are plenty of atrocities in the Seven Kingdoms. And the scenery is supposed to be spectacular. Join me....

(14,933 posts)you've seen the series. I can't recommend the last two, but the series follows the books very closely.
I'm counting the minutes !

(423 posts)Thanks - I was concerned that since I watched the series on HBO that it would ruin it for reading the books.
K Gardner
(14,933 posts)reading the books just makes the series better - you'll love them.

(69 posts)Their owner, Time Warner, has given lots of money to Republicans. Paying for a subscription to that horrible channel is wrong. Of course, if your stealing the signal, then right on.

(645 posts)Look we are all interested in Politics, Politics is very important and we are all fairly ideological and partisan people.
However you just can't live your life disavowing people, products and other things on the basis of your politics alone it's not exactly a healthy way to live life. HBO provides a service many people greatly enjoy and so they pay to be able to use that service, it entertains them, makes them happy so who are you to belittle them for it?

(14,933 posts)We do like to have a bit of fun now and then. It's been fairly grim here of late. So allow us a momentary pause, if you will.

(100,063 posts)I've only seen up to the 4th episode but I'm getting really into it, got my DVR set!
K Gardner
(14,933 posts)all the episodes recorded and can watch on any device with HBO GO (oh, sorry.. BOO HBO!!)..
But the BR set got rave reviews at Amazon. Did you one of the boxes with the fancy Lannister or Stark fronts?

(100,063 posts)And HBO Go rocks - I watch stuff on my phone and laptop all the time.

(8,021 posts)The books were terrific (except the last two as you say), but I usually come away disappointed when some of my favorite fantasy is put on the screen..

(36,988 posts)He was called that in the book too.
A good interview with the author on google books
He is also the executive producer on the film which is why the series is so good.

HBO was fear this weekend.
I liked being able to watch every ep back to back.
Wow, now I know what I've been missing. Very well made.
