NBC edited 911 call

NBC announced on Saturday that it would launch an internal investigation into a misleadingly edited 911 call that aired on the network which featuring George Zimmerman on the night that Trayvon Martin was shot.

The edited call which aired on NBC’s Today on March 27 featured Zimmerman talking to a 911 dispatcher. “This guy looks like he’s up to no good … he looks black,” Zimmerman said in the edited segment.

The Washington Post published an unedited transcript of how that conversation actually occurred:

Zimmerman: “This guy looks like he’s up to no good. Or he’s on drugs or something. It’s raining and he’s just walking around, looking about.”
Dispatcher: “OK, and this guy — is he black, white or Hispanic?”
Zimmerman: “He looks black.”

Here is my question: Why edit something that can so easily be checked?

As the editor was attempting to convey the fact that Georgie was in fact a raving lunatic racist.

Even if the dispatcher asked for the information, which BTW makes the dispatcher a racist too, any other reasonable, sensitive person would have asked "what difference does their color make, I think that they're up to no good, send a squad".

But no, the combined racism of the 9-11 dispatcher and Zimmerman resulted in the death of a little child.

I believe asking for character traits to identify whom the caller is referring to, is standard practice. It's not racism. They need to know what they're looking for.

NBC was totally in the wrong, and what they did was dangerous. This case could lead to another murder. Let the facts speak for themselves. There's enough out there to hang Zimmerman with. You don't need to go manipulating evidence, when we all know that he's a moron murderer.

The idea that asking about their race is racism is a completely bizarre statement.

No one will beat them in distortion. They were the ones airing the Michelle Obama "proud of my country" edited speech. They know what their inbred viewers like to hear and see.
