Sarah Palin to host the "Today" show. Really? Eva Braun wasn't available?

I'm sorry but morning shows on the main networks (ABC/CBS/NBC) should be as little about politics as possible. Do you think Sarah Palin is going to go in there and be non-partial about the topics discussed? Or will she go in there with her old and tired tirade about how awful the 'liberal media' is and how 'wretched' Barack Obama is. Or if you're going to put someone like Sarah Palin in the 'Today' show why not pair her up with someone who counterpoints her like Dr. Jill Biden or Cecile Richards of Planned Parenthood.

Sarah Palin to Host 'Today' Show, Take on Katie Couric

http://www.thewrap.com/tv/article/sarah-palin-host-today-show-take-katie-couric-36695

Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin will guest host on NBC's "Today" show this Tuesday.

The Peacock network may have seen ABC up the stakes in the morning news show ratings poker game. Last week, ABC announced that Katie Couric will be filling in for Robin Roberts on ABC's "Good Morning America" this week.

"I see this as a good opportunity to bring an independent, common-sense conservative perspective to NBC. We’re 'going rogue' and infiltrating some turf for a day,” Palin told Breitbart News.

especially when I saw this list of 'notables' who will be on Today during the week:

'Others stopping by Studio 1A include Giuliana and Bill Rancic, "Octomom" Nadya Suleman, Kim Kardashian, the Duggars, Tori Spelling and Nicki Minaj, who will perform live.'

Alas, it is all true. Today is an unfunny joke.

Leftovers from her VP debate with Joe Biden. Knowing that they couldn't put her head-to-head on the issues (Biden is a debating champ) instead they trained her like a parrot who squawked the same catch phrases over and over again. All talk and no substance.

Is this a "one off?" She's just doing it for a single day?

Pick up the remote and click it. Let NBC see what her effect is on viewership.

If she's the same "draw" as she was with her reality show, she'll tank. No one watched that piece of shit either--five minutes was like an hour of nails on a blackboard.

Palin is well trained and has all the 'talking points' memorized well enough that she could manage to do the show and not look like an idiot.

Thing is this - these are talking points geared towards the Faux New crowd, something that should not be on Network morning shows like Today (NBC), Good Morning America (ABC) and the Morning Show (CBS).

I'm no big fan of Katie Couric but to even suggest that putting Palin on opposite her somehow trumps ABC's move is a joke.

The Today show is slowly sliding into irrelevancy. Matt Lauer is a joke and Ann Curry is way out of her depth.

For the first, there's nothing to say that she has an exclusivity or non-compete clause in whatever contract she's struck up with FNC.

Second, it's a mighty long time to the convention. I can't see how this has any bearing on that at all.

I don't ever watch Today or indeed any other of those network morning shows. I'm always out the door before they come on anyway. The last time I watched Today, Jane Pauley wore those horrible orange and brown outfits that dominated the '70s for no readily explicable reason, and Gene Shalit did movie reviews with that ridiculous hair and outrageous mustache.

I assume it's an April Fool's, right? It couldn't be that NBC is so desperate for ratings it has to find an unhinged, delusional, inarticulate know-nothing to guest-host its show just to leverage red America against blue?

NBC is obviously expecting '20 car pile-up on the freeway rubbernecking' for the trainwreck that is Palin. People won't tune in to see a so-called common-sense conservative perspective on political commentary. They want to see the bearded lady and the human pin cushion sideshow acts. Comedy central, Maher, Leno, Letterman, et al will have their writing staffs tuning in to take notes.
