I cannot stand late night evangelists who are "selling" miracle elixers like Prayer Cloths, No Evil Oil, Miracle Water...etc. etc. My wife tells me to just let it go. However, I am either unwilling or unable to do so. It is one of the most disgusting things I have witnessed on television. I cannot let go of the whole charade and my desire to tell them how I feel. I regularly call prayer lines to read them the riot act asking if they "have no shame." Please someone, help me break this obsession.

(15,799 posts)There are those for whom "God" is nothing more than a profitable commodity. Back in Luther's day, church officials sold "indulgences" and some church offices were purchased by dreadfully unholy persons. Radio and television are just newer and fancier pulpits for such grifters. That said, there are plenty of people of genuine faith who DON'T abuse their congregants; they're easy to find, start with the ones NOT on the air.
