Romney: Obama Has 'Zero' Ideas

Addressing the press in Washington on Wednesday, Mitt Romney criticized President Obama for not having enough ideas to solve the country's problems:

I understand some people are amused that I have so many ideas. But I think the American people will prefer it to President Obama’s grand total of zero.

Romney Says Obama Wants To 'End Medicare As We Know It'

Mitt Romney, in addressing the press in Washington on Wednesday, directly rebutted Obama's charge that Republicans want to "end Medicare as we know it."

I’d be willing to consider the President’s plan, but he doesn’t have one. That’s right: In over three years, he has failed to enact or even propose a serious plan to solve our entitlement crisis.

Instead, he has taken a series of steps that end Medicare as we know it.

He is the only President to ever cut $500 billion from Medicare. And, as a result, more than half of doctors say they will cut back on treating seniors.

Updated to add this related to the Medicare claim:

Mitt Romney manages to take both sides twice in just six sentences

by Jed Lewison

<...>

Consider Romney's logic:

  1. Our biggest fiscal challenge is cutting entitlement spending

  2. Obama hasn't offered a plan to cut entitlement spending

  3. Instead, Obama has cut entitlement spending by $500 billion, ending Medicare as we know it
Even if you didn't already know Romney's claims about Medicare were dishonest, even if you didn't know that he was the candidate to have proposed ending Medicare (in his words, "fundamentally transform Medicare&quot , the self-contradictions here are simply amazing.

In the space of less than one hundred words, Mitt Romney says we need to cut entitlement spending, slams Obama for not cutting entitlement spending, and then slams Obama for cutting entitlement spending. You literally don't need to know anything about the issue in order to see that Romney is full of crap; the internal inconsistency of his logic alone is enough.

These are not the words of someone who is interested in doing the right thing or in being a good president. These are the words of someone whose one and only goal is advancing his own interests. He's not interested in making a coherent argument, he's merely interested in destroying his enemies to obtain power.

And one of the big questions in 2012 is whether or not he's going to get away with it.

Take the thing you're weakest on and totally crudify your opponent on the same issue, making up as many lies as is necessary to convince the public.

exactly what ideas do you have? I've heard about how you're going to eliminate things and repeal things, but nothing about what you intend to actually do.

All he is is a greased up car salesman, oily and smarmy with not an ounce of authenticity. Ugh this will be painful to put up with.

That same guy turned out to be "like dad" and became a quarter-billionaire by being a serial firer vulture his damned self.

R-Money's vanity run will come crashing to a landslide halt once Obama starts actually campaigning. Right now, he's having too much fun watching GiftTastic shoot his 400 dollar dress shoes clean off.

And they think this fucking guy is going to do a better job than Obama? The guy whose claim to being a southerner is that he likes cheesy grits and says "y'all"? The guy who explained to Michigan auto workers that he could name all makes and models in 1965 yet his wife owns "a couple of Cadillacs?". The guy who says some of his best friends are NASCAR team owners? The guy who says that he'll erase everything bad said about him like an etch-a-sketch? This is the best they got? I don't think even the Koch brothers will be able to buy this election.
