"Handsome" needs some vibes

I need some DU vibes, please, for a rescued cat. Without going into too much detail, he's having some urinary tract issues, and so far, the antibiotics aren't helping. He's already been through the regular vet, and he goes to a cat specialist tomorrow for evaluation. Probably has stones. If that's the issue, hopefully, we can afford surgery for him. We're going to try, at least. I'm asking for the vibes in the hopes that it won't be something worse - like cancer.

Anyway, Handsome lived at a gas station up until about a year ago, when he was rescued and brought to our group. He's a real sweetheart. One of those that just tugs at your heart. I've been having to poke meds down him, and having to feed him by hand, and he's been a real trooper - no trouble at all.

May we please have some positive DU vibes, prayers, healing white light - whatever is your preference - for Handsome?

Thank you in advance.

the surgery was a little too expensive for me. But the vet. was a great guy and let me pay in installments. She's doing great and still hates most humans except me.

You must tell her that there are days when I'm just like that, too (i.e., "hates most humans&quot . She's lucky to have you and my thanks to you for taking care of her when the financial burden was a difficult part of the process.

That would be wonderful if the meds could just be changed; however, we've already tried a couple and they haven't worked. But, it's all about finding the RIGHT one, of course, many times.

Our regular vet is awesome, always helping us with costs, etc. He generally tries to treat our rescues without a lot of expensive diagnostic stuff. But, when given reasonable time, if things aren't going in the right direction, we know we need to spend the money on tests, etc. At this time, there hasn't been a true urine culture done, so I'm sure that is one thing that will need to be done tomorrow, along with either x-rays or ultrasound, etc.

Thank you (to everyone!) for the positive vibes.

Unfortunately, that's what Handsome likes. But, if he can recover from this, he should be an easy candidate for switching to a better, wet diet. He's an easy going dude!

Our vet advised me to feed our cats a teaspoon or two of plain low fat yogurt per day when they were having urinary problems. It works like a charm.

Sending you good vibes for your furbaby

and they licked it off. Now they love it.

One of them comes running into the kitchen the moment she hears a plastic lid being lifted, whether it's yogurt, sour cream, cottage cheese or whatever.

These are cats who absolutely refuse to eat anything other than dry cat food. With the exception of yogurt.

What is Handsome eating? I have a cat, born of a feral mother...who had kidney issues. UTI's, crystals...the whole thing. We tried raft after raft of anti-biotics, and he'd be okay for a while, but he'd always relapse. Finally, the vet said try this food. Now, I have a multi-cat household, so that means everybody has to eat this food, too. It's expensive food, but by jah...he hasn't been sick since I switched, and all the other cats are doing fine on it, too. It's Royal Canin S/O. Maybe you could try it? You can only get it at the vets.

I posted this in a separate thread, but here's the news on Handsome:

Thank you to all who sent good thoughts, vibes, prayers, etc. for Handsome, the rescued cat.

I've just finished speaking with the cat specialist who did an ultrasound and urinalysis. He feels that Handsome is treatable with continued antibiotic therapy and the addition of a medication to calm the bladder. It will take about 30 days for Handsome to get back to normal. So we are greatly relieved, of course!

Handsome has a hernia (not related to this particular urinary situation) that will need to be addressed once the urinary tract issues are under control. It is most likely that Handsome has been hit by a car in the past before coming to us. We will be doing our very best to care for Handsome so that he can make a full recovery from the urinary tract issues, and once that recovery is complete, we will be taking him in for surgical repair of the hernia.

We are particularly lucky/blessed/fortunate to have a very good veterinarian in our city who has a cats-only practice. I have the utmost confidence in this vet and have no reason to believe that Handsome will not recover fully, and have a good quality life.

So...my humble thanks and appreciation to all on DU who kept Handsome in your thoughts and prayers. I truly believe that your compassion and involvement made the difference in the news that I just received.

May good things come your way...

Yippeeeee!!!!!
