And while I know it's miles away from the World Cup, my son played goalie in high school and had several games similar to that one in that he made save after save while his own team had very few attempts. It very much speaks to the spirit of a player when he/she can just keep giving it his/her all in a situation like that. Howard never gave up and overall seemed supportive of his other teammates even though the overall defense should have been better.

My son was also the goalie in a record breaking shoot-out. It went on forever and I had to actually leave for a bit and not watch. There's tremendous pressure on a goalkeeper . . . and their moms!

4. "The most important thing in my life is Christ." - Tim Howard

Tim is a known devout Christian. He's well loved by fans and widely known as one of the best goal keepers in the world. I don't believe I've ever read or heard a negative thing about him.

In a country where people may not want to hear about Christianity, Tim is outspoken about his faith.

I would not expect you would have a problem with his speaking about his faith since your post praises him. As for the fact I pointed it out - why should that bother anyone? He sure isn't ashamed or tries to 'spare' anyone about his religion.

The line about country may not want to hear about Christianity is a quote from article, and I think it refers to England, not U.S. but not sure, didn't write it. Just googled him and untold number of links to all these sites referring to his Christianity/faith were prevelent. Also saw where he suffers from Touretts. Been a fan for years (since last WC), never knew that.
Full correct quote from article I put in my post title-

One response in particular was very revealing. "The most important thing in my life," Tim told them, "is Christ. He's more important to me than winning or losing or whether I'm playing or not. Everything else is just a bonus." He says it like he means it, like he knows where credit is due. "All praise be to God," he says.

Of all the myriad evils on this planet, religion is #1number one in my book.

Well, Howard can shave the beard I guess but he isn't going to change race anytime soon, So Coulter is off in her racist corner for life.

And I'm guessing someone who is so religious that they say Christ is the number one thing in my life - not saving goals, not entertaining sports fans - Christ, isn't going to drop religion. Clear example as you're going to get of you can't seperate a man from his religion.
So cheering him for his beard/color/sports ability whatever the case, is hypycritical at best, my way/view screw your way/view at worst.
Eh, myself can't throw groups of anything in one pot. See individuals, clarity is better. Else you end up throwing Sharia law in with the likes of a Tim 'Christ is first' Howard.
Two don't belong together. Then again-
If I saw Howard on fox or repub convention...doing radio shows with rush-I'd be hypocrite all in pot guy in no time flat. No way I could not pull for him to get scored on.
We all have game changers.
Race.
Religion.
Politics.
My 'individual' viewfinder breaks apart at RW politics. Like brick ice dropped 100 feet onto a concrete floor.

I can not believe you actually wrote that. Overt Christianity is a staple of American life. It is thrown in our faces everywhere. Yet, you whine because some of us would prefer not having it shoved down our throat 24x7.

Unbelievable.

Good game, overall. Our team should walk off that field with their heads held high.
