I mean, I've always supported the right to choose, I just didn't know that aspect till much more recently.

It is not an excuse, and all I am saying is that, with how things are, that is buried so deep in the conversation that many don't even see it. Which really sucks. I think it needs to be mentioned and promoted more heavily.

They stop at the birth control aspect of it and don't go beyond it, and this is not just men, there are some women too that don't even think about that.

Heck, my mother doesn't, and I tried to explain that to her and she wouldn't hear it.

Glad you're here! Maybe they're like george will and his "lovely" pronouncements about rape and rape victims (which RIGHTFULLY should have gotten him yanked off the air and should have cost him his nationally-syndicated column). But, then again, I guess one has to understand. People who hold points of view as idiotic as his obviously have their heads so far up their descending colons that it's inevitable some of that is gonna come bubbling up out of their mouths at some point.

They believe these forms of birth control cause abortions.

There's a real effort going on among some religious leaders to convince people that most forms of birth control = abortion. So, you have people thinking RU-486 and Plan B are exactly the same thing and work in exactly the same way. You even have some people believing that ordinary birth control pills work by "aborting" a fertilized egg every month. It's insane.

By their logic it shouldn't.

During the selection and transfer phases many embryos may be discarded in favour of others. This selection may be based on criteria such as handicaps, genetic disorders, or even simply sex.[96] This is a question of ethics as no consensus exists in science, religion, and philosophy on when during the development of a human embryo, it should be recognized as a new person. For those who believe that this is at the moment of conception, IVF becomes a moral question when multiple eggs are fertilised, begin development, and only a few are chosen for implantation.

If IVF were to involve the fertilisation of only a single egg, or at least only an amount that will be implanted, then this would not be an issue. However, this has the chance of increasing costs dramatically as only a few eggs can be attempted at a time.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/In_vitro_fertilisation#Discarding_unwanted_embryos

Just below that section, there is a discussion of various religions doctrine for IVF - I hadn't realized that the Roman Catholic Church totally banned it.

Nevermind that religious freedom ends at taking something from someone else.

Nevermind that the specified measures are not in any scientific sense "abortion."

Nevermind that abortion is a woman's right anyway.

This is simply healthcare that women need and men don't. So it gets screwed with, over and over. With the added ugly implication that it has something do with approving or disapproving of women's sex lives. Women's sex lives. Not men's. Because it's the woman sex that needs to be controlled and punished.

Health care. That's it.

Despite all their "concern" of minorities having abortions what Republicans KNOW is the majority of abortions are WHITE PEOPLE and they ALSO hear white people are becoming a minority. They believe blacks and Latinos are breeding like rabbits.

They believe outlawing abortions will keep the White Race in the majority.

tell it like it is… HL and decision are all about slut-shaming… I would love to see this addressed head on… women LIKE sex and it is a human need (even absent of reproduction)

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/meryl-branchmctiernan/a-pill-by-any-other-name_b_5550199.html

Of course, we shouldn't have to resort to using euphemisms for the pill because of a misguided political decision on the part of the SCOTUS, but the fact of the matter is that for many "birth control" is a misnomer. Language is powerful in changing perception. Years ago, I struck the term "pro-life" from my vocabulary to emphasize my stance that people who are "pro-choice" are not against life, and those who claim to be "pro-life" but don't support access to family planning, paid maternity leave, and affordable childcare certainly don't deserve to be referred to as "pro-life." So let's use the Hobby Lobby decision as a way to educate the men in robes about the many purposes of the pill.

http://www.thedailybeast.com/articles/2014/07/02/hobby-lobby-sex-lies-and-craft-supplies.html?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+thedailybeast%2Fpolitics+(The+Daily+Beast+-+Politics)

But this slut-shaming is extremely disturbing. Never mind that 99 percent of American women (PDF) have used birth control at some point in their lives (and 1 in 3 will have abortions). Women have sex. Even poor women. Some might even call that freedom. Valenti points out that in one brief filed supporting Hobby Lobby’s suit, a male lawyer argues, “since sexual relations are basically a voluntary activity. ... [S]ex is only a human want (like bowling or stamp collecting), not an actual need.” Oh, okay then... And yet Hobby Lobby still covers Viagra and vasectomies. And I don’t hear any conservatives attacking men who use those medicines or procedures as “sluts.”

With a dash of the obsession about sex in general that seems rampant in the Catholic Church, which controlled Christianity and the content of the Bible for the longest time. Seriously, how is a vow of celibacy and poverty a realistic solution to controlling how priests may will their property? Did they ever really expect that celibacy was not going to be an issue?

It's recommended to space conception, at least 2 years for the best conditions for a healthy pregnancy. Contraception is not the opposite of motherhood, but a part of responsible health and family care. There are dire consequences to blocking access to contraception, I list some here-- http://www.emancipationconversation.com/2014/02/08/is-mike-huckabee-against-pre-natal-care/

The Catholic hierarchy is the biggest pack of hypocrites that have ever graced the face of the earth. They have resorted to every legal tactic that they could employ to block access to thousands upon thousands of records detailing sexual abuse cases by the clergy.

While only a minimal number of their membership adheres to their condemnation of contraception they continue to use legal tactics to deny people access to contraceptive information and appropriate birth control even when it is prescribed for medical reason other than contraception. As a former Catholic, I have no damn use for Catholics that don't adhere to the Church's asinine teachings and continue to support this criminal enterprise with their donations and attendance. I won't give them the sweat off my ball if they were dying. Having a very close relative who was abused by these sanctimonious bastards I loath them and their attempt to control people.

When will the people revolt against these fascists assholes and put them out of business once and for all? Boycott Hobby Lobby!!!
