Just drove thru Bowling Green Ohio and saw a pump price of $3.14. Just before a holiday?

(26,001 posts)I would advise you don't take any road trips out here in California then...

(10,893 posts)at how high the gas is in Humboldt when I first came there, particularly around Eureka and Arcata. It's not exactly a huge tourist destination or population center like how the Bay and LA are.

(233 posts)It's the same around here.
Maybe the memo got lost.

(23,156 posts)At least that's what it was yesterday, and I haven't been out of the house yet today.
Don't gas prices normally spike before a long weekend holiday?

(5,168 posts)Maybe the price is due to low transportation cost and a local oversupply.

(30,481 posts)Do you have an excellent public transportation system in that area. I would hope.
LibDemAlways
(15,139 posts)reasonable prices and many customers. $4.99 is the price people coming from the north on the highway encounter when they first enter the Santa Barbara area. There is a free public bus for the university students. Still, $4.99 is major highway robbery, especially since the station owners know drivers may have been waiting to fill up in SB.

(18,402 posts)Except Costco is $3.85. We always fill up at Costco these days. That's a heckuva lot cheaper than any of the commercial stations inside the city.

(14,061 posts)Here in the Indianapolis area I haven't paid $3.1 for gas since JANUARY. I just filled up yesterday at $3.61. I know this for a fact because I keep my gas receipts just so I can track how badly I'm getting reamed every time at the pump.
I'm just grateful that I take public transportation for most of the year. When I do have to drive, mainly during the winter months, I have to fill up at least twice a week, and if prices are this high next January, I'm not going to be pleased. And with the way Iraq is going, I can totally see prices only going up.
Just curious: What do you think gas should be going for these days, if $3.14 turns your head?
