Is Your Local Law Enforcement Agency Tracking Your Cell Phone's Location? Find out on this ACLU map!

Is Your Local Law Enforcement Tracking Your Cell Phone's Location?

In a massive coordinated information-seeking campaign, 35 ACLU affiliates filed over 380 requests in 31 states with local law enforcement agencies large and small to uncover when, why and how they are using cell phone location data to track Americans.

Click on a state in the map at the following link to see what requests the ACLU filed in that state, and what documents they received:

Please kick this so everyone knows how to find out if cops are tracking cell phones in their area. Better Believe It Apr 2012 #1
Hard to believe that Indiana isn't doing it, too, but it seems that they aren't. YET... kas125 Apr 2012 #2

The map just indicates the 31 states the ACLU filed requests in, not that the other states don't have agencies that do it as well.

When I had a flat tire on the freeway, I called 911 to ask for a tow truck or someone who could change the tire (I'm an old lady and I gave up tire changing a while back). The operator said they would send the State Patrol. How nice! I started to tell her where I was and she said, "that's ok, we already have your location." Tracked by my cell phone. In Washington state.
