dumped dog

My daughter and I were going for a hike close to the Missouri river and at a low water crossing we saw a skinny puppy. He ran from us as we tried to get him, but my daughter was determined. As she got closer he yelped and jumped in the water. My daughter jumped in after him and came out with the little guy. He immediately messed all over her. He was grossly under weight. Since we live in a rural area we have lots of pets dumped on us (three cats--still have them and now three dogs--we found homes for both the others since we have two dogs). Well we now have three dogs..."Lenny" is the new addition vet thought he was part hound dog and part whippet. Tried to post a picture but was flummoxed.
