14 Years

A couple has been married for many, many years. Fourteen years ago an incident happened that caused them to lose their home, which then led to other very unfortunate circumstances. Neither partner could agree on which events led to the loss of their home. Both blamed the other. They talked about it a hundred times over, and they never could agree. The discussion then always led to a drawn out argument, laced with terrible invective and insults. They would get red in the face, mad as hell, but eventually get back to some relative peace, as they shared many ideals, passions and goals. Then like Ground Hog's Day, one would bring it up once again, offering that it was something that needed to be resolved. Another nasty argument naturally ensued. Their marriage councilor said they would continue to have irreconcilable differences unless they just let go of the blame, forgave, and moved on to deal with their present circumstances, if they wanted to be successfull.

Not telling you to leave here I'm saying, go over there and read their threads mocking us. Liberals and right wingers alike, reveling together.

Then ask yourself, what company would you rather keep?

Here's how I frame something: if the results help the Republicans, then I am against the actors to those ends, even if they say it in a progressive way. They're not really about achieving their goals, they're about harming progressive causes.

I refuse to let it go (when it becomes an issue such as the latest SCOTUS decision) because there are those on the left who don't actually care about furthering progressive causes, they only care about trashing anyone who doesn't hold to their ideology strictly. Very much like the far right.

Until we can work together progress will be extremely slow.

Not saying that you should go sign up there or participate, but look at right wingers and left wingers cutting us down, side by side.

How did this happen?

Your argument is deeply rooted in ideology and argues exactly that the only way to succeed is to admonish those who do not fit your tightly defined ideological stance. You must be aware of this contradiction, right? You aren't doing this totally unaware.

From a political, real world perspective, I am against those who trash the only party capable of moving the country forward progressively.

From an apolitical, anti-politics, post-left perspective I find it all a bore.

But this is DU, and it is politically oriented, I can express my political ideas here and I can do so without trashing every Democrat that is in office. I'm tired of the "far left" (the apolitical left, which I can be a part of) trashing and bashing and overall talking shit about Democrats on a Democratic-oriented forum. I can be against that trashing but express those ideas elsewhere.

The political left must accept that centrists, moderates, whatever, are part of the party. They may even must accept that economically conservatives are part of the party. Of course, for some of the apolitical left, the economically liberal or libertarians are more important than the social left. ie, it's better to arrest the bankers (who will be 2 years from immunity by 2016) than it is to secure choice rights or LGBT rights.

Wish I was more of a thinker but I'm OK with the result. I think it's accurate.

Thanks for posting the poll. It makes me want to think more about my responses / interactions with people.
