DC firm busted for impersonating (Chris) McDaniel camp

A D.C. firm is calling voters in Mississippi asking them if they would support a petition that could be used if Chris McDaniel challenges the outcome of the Republican Party primary runoff. The problem is that the callers were originally identifying themselves as being with McDaniel's campaign and answering calls in the Jackson headquarters.

The phone banking effort is being undertaken by Liberty Action Center, which has offices in D.C. and Utah. Thomas Alvord, president of Liberty Action Center, confirmed that he is not under contract with McDaniel and has no relationship with the campaign. On their website, Liberty Action Center claims to do business with several groups, including Mississippi for Liberty.

A voter in northeast Mississippi provided me with the number from which one of these petition calls was received. I called the number, identified myself by name and as being with The Clarion-Ledger to the lady who answered. She said she was with the McDaniel campaign at the Jackson office and that she was calling with a specific script that said there was evidence pointing toward Thad Cochran being involved in illegal and irregular voting practices, some of which included double-voting and even "deceased people voting."

Meanwhile on CNN today (apparently CNN still does political interviews on the 4th), McDaniel condemned racially charged comments made by an anonymous caller to a Thad Cochran media conference call.

And Brownback has a tough primary ahead of him, too, since he has 55% vs a primary opponent with 37% in a recent poll.

Democrats can get some steals in the Kansas and Georgia governor's seats. And Saxby Chambliss' senate seat in GA. And Mitch McConnell's seat in KY. And if the Republican infighting drags on, the senate seats in MS and KS!
