Watch Colombia disintegrate with indiscipline. Brazil will soon get a penalty.

(12,232 posts)agree that's likely

(42,278 posts)But they aren't doing it here. Too all over the place. They are lucky Brazil isn't up by 2 or 3.
malaise
(268,693 posts)Poor defending is also a problem - they are all over the place.

(42,278 posts)I'm seeing rough play on both sides. I don't think the ref has decent control of the game. Things have gone so well so far; I'd hate to see it break down, especially with this game.
Brazilian fans have been wonderful this entire tourney.

Brazil deserved that. Colombia is a mess. Too bad for them but credit to Brazil.

Might be the best free kick of the tournament.
The singing from the Brazilian fans is delish!!

(6,261 posts)Mind you, I don't agree with that rule, but every single time I see a keeper concede a penalty with a foul like that it's a red card.
Brazil are getting the benefit of the doubt from that terrible referee an awful lot.
Brazil just about deserved it in the end, but this is not the Brazil (or the Germany) we'd like to see

(12,232 posts)He and James have been getting hammered all game.
That was ugly.
Hope he's ok.
malaise
(268,693 posts)He should have controlled the game earlier.

Glad to see Brazil win at home, but would have liked to see more of James, Yepes and company play.
Ref let it get out of hand. Congrats to Brazil. Hope Neymar recovers.
Germany Brazil will be something.

(268,693 posts)He is out of the World Cup. This could be a career ending injury. Seriously that Ref should be sent packing. I just knew something bad was coming with all that fouling.

The challenge really didn't look that bad. Barely a foul, I thought, and shouted at Neymar to stop wasting time and get up, the malingering git.
Shows you how you can be deceived by what you see. Well, shows you how I can be deceived, I guess.
Disclaimer: I missed the Shumacher - Battiston assault in '82 as well, and only read how bad that was later.

Brazil's Neymar is viciously kneed in the back by Colombia's Juan Zuniga in the closing moments of the World Cup quarterfinal soccer match between Brazil and Colombia in Fortaleza, Brazil, Friday, July 4.(AP Photo)
The tackle left Neymar with a fractured vertebra and ruled out of the rest of the World Cup.
Neymar has been the target of dangerous play in the tournament and was also roughed up in the match against Chile.

(4,259 posts)damn it.
I thought it looked bad but hoped it wasn't. The ref did not have control of that game.
A great loss for Brazil and a tragedy for a fine young athlete.

This is terrible.
Yes, that Ref go. He should been stopping that from the start. It just kept getting worse. James was slammed badly more than a few times. He's fortunate not to be I juried as well.
Hopes to Neymar recovering.

The only sport I have any interest at all in these days in tennis, and baseball. Because the Dodgers might actually have a good team this year. It has been a long stretch, over 25 years now, since they last won the world series.
