I find it very disturbing how narrow and twisted the thinking is in support of SCOTUS' s HL decision. Lots of insults and talking points.
There were a few tweets ranting about "I shouldn't have to pay for your birth control pills," etc. I remember that years ago, it was "I don't want my tax dollars paying for abortion." Nevermind the costs of unwanted pregnancies in an overcrowded world.
Tweets also went on about "religious liberty". There was no dissecting of the decision's limitations about applying only toward contraception, a mostly Roman Catholic Church position. (I am not certain which other denominations of Christianity specifically in writing forbid the use of any contraception, just unnamed fundalmentalism.) There were no comments about this establishment of RCC as the standard for religious liberty.
The lack of logic about one set of FDA approved drugs is mindboggling. They claim that the drugs don't treat a disease, but interfere with a natural state (pregnancy). What if the same logic was applied to antihypertensive medications? If a person is overweight and needs blood pressure medication, the drug is interfering with the natural result of obesity.
Okay, I'm just ranting now...

Childbirth and Babies are Gawd's punishment for fornication. Anything that prevents that just denies the haters satisfaction.

(9,126 posts)I would love for a truly whackjob church to ask for something and then claim discrimination when they don't get it. Because now only corps and churches have rights in this country dontcha know. A very smart, liberal law firm could find a way to do this. It's also the best sales pitch for single payer I can think of.
