... and then they're still not dissuaded. The protections of our Constitution are being afforded to fewer and fewer ... the "entitled" elite. On top of this, overt hypocrisy has become the religion of the right. The "castle doctrine" allows bloody murder, but there's no moat around a prisoner's anus.

Notice that the right is obsessed with connecting "rights" to property. Without the means to afford a "castle," a homeless person has no privacy rights whatsoever.

Guilty until proven innocent. How far we've fallen as a democracy of the people for the people. If someone would have tried to tell me where we are today back in Oct. '70 when I returned home I would have told them they're crazy, but here we are.having to re-fight all the things we fought so hard for back then, thats what blows me away more than anything

But after seeing what Reagan was getting away with in the '80s, I had a funny feeling then that this is where we were heading.

When I got out I thought, man, what a country. We are beginning to cast the molds of our parents off and begin to model us a new one. Then, Reagan, that asshole, got elected. How did that happen? It brought a whole new political dynamic that it is OK to lie not only in campaign stops and speeches but to anyone you feel like it. It is OK to have your spies look in on your political rivals. Money is no object in any conversation unless it can be used against a political rival. Wrap everything military into a golden flag and trample anyone or anything that dares usurp that authority.

I hated the man and still do.

Part of it had to do with my young age, I guess, but at the same time there were Great Society public service announcements on TV ( I really loved those) that basically said "We've come a long way but we can still do better". A lot of mainstream music at the time was pretty upbeat, too-- "I think it's so groovy now, that people are finally getting together..." And then, yeah, that asshole Reagan got in and started trashing the ideals of the '60s and '70s. I, too, have a seething dislike for the man

And that's really too bad, because to change it people, mainly white people, are going to need to stand up at podiums and refuse to keep paying the bill for the same old thing.

They will make enemies out of the police, and should never be alone, never be without video, transmitting video if possible, with people who video the videographers. Might even need a bulletproof vest for themselves and their family members and friends.

They will also make enemies out of anyone who sees this as an attack on unions.

They will also make enemies of the GOP and the NRA.

They might make a friend out of some unconnected folks, perhaps a few friendly police and others who want to try to see a less militaristic and racist police industry, but not many.

Not impossible, but there are some awesome obstacles. And the chance of ending up injured, dead, or framed and put in prison for a decade or more is probably quite high.

The assault on our rights is bipartisan. We pretend that it isn't at our peril.

The Obama DOJ urged the Supreme Court's endorsement of strip searches.

We can only point out bi-partisan hypocrisy when no one needs ever be elected again.
