How does someone who has spent his career destroying businesses and hiding his money in tax havens overseas even attempt to run for the Presidency?
What is wrong with this picture?

At least Bill Gates spends his money on trying to wipe out malaria and also contributes to various other charities.

(62,266 posts)I don't see how he thinks he can win.
Granted, Republicans do like to gamble, and if something random happens (Obama gets hurt, some scandal breaks) he could have a shot.
But otherwise it ain't happening.

(28,835 posts)Obama is one of the most scandal-free presidents we've ever had...
so the only way the Reeps can win is by cheating.

(31,706 posts)Millard doesn't think he destroyed businesses as much as he created his own myth. He became a "captain of industry"...a guy who could move mountains. Of course he does this from the perspective of a kid who had a lot of advantages going into life (similar to georgie w. booooosh)...and who assumed that those breaks were part divine plan and part "how things are".
He's a guy who started life on third base and is trying to convince us all he hit a triple to get there. For most of his life he's had people who told him how great he was. And just like junior booooshie he was tormented throughout his life by his better known and successful father. Millard's winning the nomination is his ultimate goal...proving he's his own man and demonstrating how he's entitled through his wealth and connections to be the nominee, if not President.
Just look at how many vulture capitalists have had their hands on the treasury...Democrat and rushpublican...it's been an equal opportunity fleecing...

(31,706 posts)When you've spent your entire life being pampered you have no nuance...no way to dial up or down the arrogance. Unlike someone who built themselves up and can relate with those who eat out of dumpsters (cause they once did) Mittens spent his 60 plus years at the front of the line and to him that's "normal". Thus when he tries to be a "common guy" his act is so superficial...and a turn off not only to all of us but to many in his own corrupt and inept party...

(53,410 posts)Romeny doesn't care if he sounds stupid to the rest of us. Just like Sarah Palin knew the language of the teabaggeratti he knows exactly what to say to comfort and seduce the 1%. He thinks we're here to get fleeced. That's our role in his world. And if he wins that's exactly what will happen. He will do to us what he's done to thousands. All in a day's work for him.
