Cape May Police Officer Scott Krissinger admits that he had a million things going through his head Monday night when he pulled up next to a burning truck on Sunset Boulevard in West Cape May. But fortunately for the man trapped inside the vehicle, Krissinger didnt dwell on those thoughts and acted immediately.
I just remember the smoke coming out, Krissinger said. I couldnt see anything.
Krissinger sprinted towards the vehicle, pulled the unconscious driver out to safety and then ran back to check if there were any other passengers inside.

The problem I have with the police is that they generally treat law abiding people by intimidating them and bullying them.... and of-course we have all seen the videos of the really out of control ones.
I believe there will be retaining of the police force, across the country, thanks to people video taping them when they misbehave.
When I was a little girl growing up in England, I was taught if I ever needed help to find a policeman. I would like those days to return. It will only happen if there's a nationwide retraining effort.

(13,069 posts)They don't "generally" treat law abiding people by intimidating and bullying them. All you see and here on DU is the lie that they are generally bullies.

(2,186 posts)I interact with the police often while on shift and they're generally egotistical bullies towards the general pop.

(29,257 posts)Japanese police DO protect and serve and are never rude bullies. They are professionals.
America WANTS police to be rude bullies. This is the sad fact.

(2,899 posts)I have never broken the law or been arrested, yet I have been spoken to rudely and in a bullying/intimidating manner by police. The only time I have had them act decent to me is when I have called them to investigate things such as vandalism, trespassing and a death threat I received from our republican friends.
I can go back as far as one night in September 1973, when my sister and I were tourists from the UK, outside the White House. We were treated like criminals by a policeman. He changed his tune when he heard our accents, but that didn't stop him from forcing a taxi to stop and ordering us into it then telling the driver to take us to our hotel. We were from London where you are allowed to be on the streets any time of day or night. We were looking at a map - stone sober.
I was even yelled at one night when I was a single girl. That night I was fast asleep when my older dog started barking. Headlights shone in my front window because someone had parked their car on my lawn! There were people in my orchard and barn in the back. I saw someone walk in front of the blinding headlights and so opened the front door and asked what was going on. The figure started screaming at me to shut up and get back inside the house. Before I closed the door my very young puppy ran out and the figure kicked her. She yelp in pain and ran back in. I grabbed the phone to call the police and it was then the car turned and I saw it was a police car. I was now scared to what was going on in the back, so I cracked the door open and asked him, "What is going on"? He told me someone they were chasing had run towards my house and said that he knew I was hiding him!! I said "Certainly NOT". I stood there until they left. They should have not treated me like that. It was uncalled for.
We have been stopped for no reason by small town policemen. One muttered something about he thought we someone else or meant to stop the car in front of us, but then treated us very rudely. Wanted ID and wanted to know where we were going and coming from. He has no business asking those questions and we shouldn't have told him. We have the right to travel unmolested. He should have apologized for wasting our time instead he was a bully.
They need retraining and videos of them being abusive might do the trick.

(13,069 posts)And the website you posted has an agenda. There are many more good law abiding police officers than bad ones.

(2,186 posts)This excuses the daily police misconduct and brutality seemingly reported each and every day?
I so the same thing many more times than cops and I sure as hell don't expect any accolades, that's my part of my job.

(28,627 posts)the truck could have exploded at any time killing them both. He even checked the rest of the vehicle for other passengers.
