When Cosmopolitan magazine understands the constitution better than SCOTUS...

Last edited Sun Jul 6, 2014, 06:02 AM - Edit history (1)

you know we are deep in it.

I was searching for tips on hair products and went to an article on Cosmo. Got a great hair product tip and saw a link to the right under the heading of "The Hot List":

1.
13 Misinformed Reactions To Hobby Lobby

Followed the link and found a well written piece about how wrong the dismissive reactions to the SCOTUS Hobby Lobby decision are.

Here are the 13 comments, follow the link below for the article with their answers. I was pleasantly surprised.

1. Hobby Lobby objected to only four forms of birth control; they still provide 16 other options for employees, so what's the problem?

2. Plan B, Ella, and IUDs are abortifacients.

3. If you want to play, you have to pay.

4. Why should a company pay for your birth control?

5. Birth control is only $10.

6. This is a very narrow decision.

7. This is about the First Amendment and Americans' constitutional rights.

8. Birth control isn’t medicine.

9. Employers will still have to cover contraception used for medical reasons.

10. Insurance is only for medical emergencies, not maintenance.

11. Insurance doesn’t pay for Viagra or Cialis. Pay for your own birth control.

12. If you were a truly independent woman, you'd pay for your own contraception and not expect it from your boss or the government.

13. If you don’t like it, find another job. (someone on DU was arguing this to me a couple days ago!)

And for those of you who are wondering...

For a more textured wet finish, he suggests these steps:

- First, towel dry your hair a bit.

- Then, prep the Redken Tousle Whip 04 Soft Texturizing Cream-Wax in your hands to warm it before distributing evenly for definition and a matte-satin finish.

The misogynists are all over this one. Oh! And they don't know human biology either.

Fucking amazing (no fun intended).

That's why I posted it. It covers all the common misconceptions and does it well and in a straightforward way. So glad they ran it so it can reach people who might not think about it much otherwise.

to fix the ruling. They won't pass, thanks to Republican insanity, but this issue could turn the 2014 election, allowing the bills to pass in January.
