Reports: Jewish suspects held in murder of Arab teen

The Israel police have arrested six Jewish suspects in the murder of an Arab teenager, according to several Israeli media outlets.

The Jerusalem Post and The Times of Israel were among news organizations reporting on the arrests.

The murder of 16-year-old Mohammed Abu Khdeir, whose charred body was discovered in a Jerusalem forest Wednesday morning, has sparked widespread Arab rioting in several parts of Israel.

Palestinians have insisted all along that the abduction and murder of Abu Khadeir was carried out by far-right-wing Israeli nationalists in revenge for the murders of three Israeli teens. Israeli police said they were exploring all possibilities, from an act by Jewish extremists to a Palestinian honor killing.

Palestinian Attorney General Muhammad Abd al-Ghani Uweili said Saturday that a preliminary autopsy of Abu Khdeir's body revealed that he had breathed in smoke – proof that he was alive when his body was set on fire.

Israeli police are expected to release additional details of the arrests in the coming hours.

about the brutal beating of the American kid by police.

I think extrapolating from this arrest that the Israeli justice system is equitable to Palestinians is absurd. There is plenty of evidence to the contrary.

One can be glad that they've arrested suspects without being willfully blind. And that's what you're doing.

demonstrate your predilection to vaporize any action which Israelis take and maximize any public-relations project of their opposition. It is worthless for me to get into this with you or anyone else around here - it amounts to peeing into the wind.

Without Israel, the place would return to the shithole that it was for all the years of domination by whichever world power happened to be in town for the century.

great. Just great.

From 1948 to the present time an unceasing war has been waged against the only country which actually lives in the 20th and then the 21st Centuries. Would you be so activist if it were one Arab group pitted against another as it is in all the other countries which are repressive and incredibly vicious and genocidal? You are not so therefore the column inches devoted to the undermining of the Jewish State are indicative of true bigotry hiding behind the 'curative' nature of faux-liberalism. In fact, Israel is there to stay and all the billions of currency poured into the PR machine to attempt to destroy her is of no avail. Not in your lifetime nor that of your heirs.

I know all about left-wing anti-Zionism: it has existed since long before my time, long before King Hussein threw Arafat and his minions out of Jordan. What you propose is not going to happen, but you may bay at the moon all you wish.

doesn't work:

People are people: did I miss something? did the Israeli government order the death of the Palestinian youth? Did the people of Israel rejoice in his death in vast majorities? Did the police find the perpetrators and arrest them? Did the Palestinian Authority pledge publicly that it would find the perpetrators of the kidnappings and murders of the three?

What world are all of you living in? There is no system without its corruptions, its inherent prejudices, its criminality at all levels. But here, the civilization which is Israel is held to, and YOU said it, I didn't, a higher standard. That is prejudiced, and yes, in this case, bigoted in the extreme.

I am tired of the double-standard, the quietude of the masses when bad things happen to Jews, yes, Jews, and the outpouring of outrage when it happens to others. Given what our less than .5% of the world's population have given the entire civilization of Man, you would think that we would get one lousy break to have one tiny strip of land in the middle of nowhere but no: not if anyone else has anything to say about it.

Good luck in your quest...one piece of positive news for you: if it were up to me, we'd move the entire state of Israel to the wilderness of Canada or Montana or Wyoming or Antarctica or even the planet Mars and start a colony there which would be free of War. But it would not do any good: in no time at all people would be shouting that it was their homeland and they want it back in toto immediately.

It's a stretch to be assume that Hamas, which is pretty much limited to Gaza, could pull off an operation in a part of the Occupied territories that even the PLA has little control over, or, for that matter, that they would even want to, given the certainty of extreme retaliation and their newly attained greater legitimacy.
