"How are you going to sell cars to all of these machines?"

-- Walter Reuther, president of the UAW, 1946-1970, in response to a "management person" at Ford, who some say was Henry Ford II, when the person asked how Reuther would collect union dues from all the machines on the factory floor.

I imagine a management type gleefully pointing out the machines on the factory floor as a way to beat the unions, and Reuther asking who will buy the cars if people are out of work.
