Is the President wise not to go to the border for a photo op?

Perhaps he should fly in, without reporters or photographers, and check it out? But then Republicans would accuse him of lying about if there were no photos?

It is my understanding that he has almost every department in the government involved with the situation and reporting back to him. Why should he give the Republicans more political ammunition for attack ads, as if they need it?

Do you think it would be a good political move for him to go to the border? Are you a political savvy person?

2. As I see it, if he did go, it could go one of two ways, depending on your political leanings.

1. The President is involved and investigating the situation first hand so he can get a better feel for what needs to be done to control this humanitarian emergency.

2. Obama went down to the border and issued a personal invitation to any kid that wants to waltz across the border looking for a handout. He just wants to get his picture taken with them so he can score points with minorities.

IMHO, he should avoid a photo op at the border and not give those on the right any more ammo.

should stay away from volatile areas and natural disaster areas.

They should do what they can beforehand and afterwards to manage the situation, but I think a Presidential visit is counter productive. It only diverts resources and interrupts the progress of cleanup, security, etc.

In this particular situation, there is literally nothing that the President can do while at the border. I have no doubt he's got up to the minute details and has seen plenty of pictures.

5. Wise & unnecessary. What good to any of these refugees would a photo op do?

Better to do the work just as he is.

I here the GOP hitting the President hard on the photo op issue. Why? Must be something in it for them or they wouldn't be yapping so loudly about it.
Better question for the media to be asking is , "Where's the Immigration Bill that was presented & passed in the Senate?" (chirping crickets on that one).

Of course the GOP would like to hang this around Obamas neck..same MO they have been using throughout his Presidency.

Obama will not play that stupid political game with them.
His approach is to play offense not defense.

Second Question I would like to ask is:
Why are we doing trade business with any country that sends their citizens, their children, to find refuge in a country a thousand miles away?
US should welcome those that arrive but return the favor by sanctioning any profiteering trade deals with any country and any multinational business that profits from said countries.

If the talk in this Nation is about humanitarian interests, then put your money where your mouth is, all you politicians & media spewers, and refuse to do business..

My rant anyway
Thanks

6. I think people who demand that sort of theater from politicians are part of the problem.

If they want photos of leaders looking at things, I hear there's plenty of Kim Jong Un and his daddy.

But you know as soon as he decides to go, the attack will be: "PHOTO OP! PHOTO OP!"
