Sarah Palin joined Matt Lauer, Ann Curry and Al Roker (or, as Lauer joked, "the lamestream media" on "Today" on Tuesday in an attempt to counter the ratings draw of Katie Couric over on ABC's "Good Morning America." And though the numbers aren't in yet, viewer reaction has been less than kind.
Though Palin largely avoided discussing politics during her appearance -- except during her sit-down interview with Lauer and to slam Julianne Moore's performance in "Game Change" -- she did talk about Jessica Simpson's weight gain and Ashton Kutcher as being cast to play Steve Jobs.
But she didn't seem to be winning any popularity contests with viewers who took to Twitter on Tuesday morning.
Paula Froelich wrote, "Kim Kardashian, Sarah Palin filling in for hosts on Today show during sweeps week -- as NBC loses all pretension of news."

(26,255 posts)I would have thought they would be INCREDIBLY unflattering. Or, better yet, that it was not even WORTH reviewing.
I saw a couple of clips - she needs her meds increased. She is a real one-trick pony.

(4,490 posts)A lot of people would tune in simply for the WTF?! factor, and I'm sure some of her fans who avoid "lamestream media" tuned in.

Personally, I'd rather watch I Love Lucy reruns than EITHER of those women. I work though so I guess I'm off the hook.

(1,185 posts)and if Thursday and Friday, will be the first time in 16 years GMA has won a week's ratings.
To me, based on just online clips because I don't watch tv, she sounded pretty much as usual...whiny, full of herself, comedy attempts and trying to act...emphasis on ACT...cool. It's painful watching what used to pass as news/network programming et al turn into Reality Shows a la Snooki and Desperate Housewives. Oh wait, desperate housewife...hmmm, rings a bell. Maybe she does have a non-lamestream media media career after all.

(154,021 posts)She could potentially do well if people forgot the whole tea party thing. I do not watch gma but damn the clips John Stewart showed were self deprecating funny stuff.

(1,185 posts)but that doesn't mean she's going to be suiting up for the Women's NBA anytime soon. And how does one "forget the whole tea party thing"? Or shooting game with a high powered rifle from a helicopter?
