The Bergeron family has been having all kinds of fun with brown booby jokes since spotting the seabird at Hanson Lake No. 2.
Its the first time this member of the Sulidae family has been seen in Nebraska, according to members of the Nebraska Ornithologists Union. The brown booby is normally found in the Pacific Ocean or in the Atlantic Ocean near the Caribbean.
Joan Bergeron said theyve made up all kinds of jokes since daughter Laura spotted the big bird while canoeing on the lake where the family lives south of Bellevue.
Brown booby sounds a lot more fun than its Latin name, Sula leucogaster.
