How much could you profit by simply lying and stealing 15 minutes of fame? Who do you hurt in a case such as this, as opposed to a "balloon boy" that consumed public resources? A gullible public, eager for a human interest story?

some local kids in Orlando pranked a couple of TV stations into thinking they had won the lottery.

They took a real ticket and changed the numbers on it---then made a photo copy. They then had a bunch of friends over to throw a fake congratulatory party. All the kids were in on it.

They then called the TV stations about it and the stations sent reporters.

They totally fell for it hook and sinker.
