Oh Please, Really?!?: “Men do tend to talk about things on a much higher level”

LOL:

Men do tend to talk about things on a much higher level, Rep. Renee Ellmers said. “Many of my male colleagues, when they go to the House floor, you know, they’ve got some pie chart or graph behind them and they’re talking about trillions of dollars and how, you know, the debt is awful and, you know, we all agree with that.

................

Ellmers then said that women mainly want more time in their lives (don’t men as well?) and the first example she gave was that women wanted “more time in the morning to get ready.”

As for connecting to women specifically, Ellmers drove it home with a line that, had there been liberals in the audience, would have made the news.

We need our male colleagues to understand that if you can bring it down to a woman’s level and what everything that she is balancing in her life — that’s the way to go,” Ellmers said.

bring it down ladies with more here:

Sounds to me like the entire GOP operates at a pretty low level.

And if you can't understand your job, maybe you ought to do everyone a favour and resign.

Keep them stupid & afraid has been the way power has been held by a few for 100s of years, just look at the church for example.

First of all the obvious sexism.

But also . . . well aren't most American's, male and female, working too hard for too little reward? I'm not saying the debt isn't an important issue (although not nearly as important as our Republican friends like to pretend it is) - but maybe some time spent on the plight of the working man and woman wouldn't go amiss.

But that goes back to the Conservative theory that putting the interests of the wealthy first is the mature and responsible thing to do, while putting the interests of the working class or lower class is somehow wasteful and stupid. And, according to Ellmers, a bit womanly.

That's the only explanation I can think of for something this stupid.

I am a female in my middle fifties.

I don't need anyone to bring it down to a "woman's level" for me. I've survived in the business world for more years than I want to count, I'm competent, and I don't need extra time to get ready in the morning.

What I DO need is the same amount of respect that would or might be paid to any of my male colleagues, the same compensation, the same opportunities, and the same responsibilities. In other words, I don't want or expect to be treated any differently. I want things to be fair and equal.

for the little dears to show them how much it will cost in flour and sugar to make their next PIE. That, and they want and better appliances, so they have more free time and don't have to run a mangle or butter churn anymore.

policy with individual every day life.

It's definitely NOT a male-female thing. It's politicians failing to connect with their constitutents, I think. Or she's just an ass clown. Team GOP has been riding a platform of telling people "those evil liberals are ruining your life" without going into much detail.

The national debt and federal interest rates don't mean much to people who want jobs, especially when they hear congress is blocking every jobs bill to protect the debt. Much of the tea party is riding a sense of "stimulus is killing jobs", along with everything else Democrats support like health reform, financial reform, social welfare programs, demand-side economics, etc.
