Because Hamas means for Palestinians to live near weapons, human shield style.

It's so confusing. Only really smart people like you, I guess, can help us understand that when hundreds of Palestinians have to die to balance 3 Israelis killed by a couple of crazies, that is really a diabolically clever strategy engineered by Hamas, and not the disproportionate response and collective punishment by the Israelis that us mere mortals might imagine it to be.

Saudi Arabia can distract its own disaffected citizens, turning them into Muslim radicals instead of the Marxist radicals they would otherwise be.

And since the powers that be in the US love a dictatorship and hate socialism, they side with the Sauds on this one. It has nothing to do with religion and everything to do with keeping all the wealth in the hands of the 1%.

conflict. How much is true? I don't know, having never been on the ground during any of those conflicts. But it's something we hear over and over again, I suppose to lessen the impact on the home audience when civilians are killed. So I take everything with a large grain of salt.

It seems to be used as a response whenever there is a concern as to why civilians are killed by US or its allies.

No matter how barbaric or one-sided the attack, it is okay because the 'bad guys' are somehow causing it themselves.

few people I have the kind of regard I have for him.

Sharp as hell, I mean, razor sharp. He has a nice self deprecating quality, does not seem to take himself too seriously, considering he is a major media personality.

I have given up on pretty much all cable news now, after going through a almost a decade of following it like a sports fan.

Only things I really watch now are him and Bill Maher, similar, but not as good as Stewart.

I work out of home, and I DVD Stewart and watch his show eating lunch.

say watching him cover the issues goes a long way in helping them actually understand them as opposed to the mainstream media who do 'flybys' without providing context. My children and their partners aren't steeped in politics like I am but, because of their watching of Jon Stewart and his ilk, we now have some great conversations on many issues in which they were previously unaware or uninterested.
