I know this will probably sink like a stone but I wanted to acknowledge her passing.
She was a legend and simply one of a kind.
Travel well great lady.

(15,480 posts)In At Liberty, Ms. Stritch earned one of her biggest laughs with a story about a long night of drinking with a friend. The story was ostensibly about the friend Judy Garland but it was self-reflective, too. Along about breakfast time, Ms. Stritch recalled, Garland turned to her.
Elaine, I never thought Id say this, Garland said, but good night.

(16,844 posts)I realized who she was. In my life, I've had the great fortune to know some ladies who had personalities similar to Ms. Stritch's, and they have been wonderful people to know. "Tart-tongued" hard-drinking women are always refreshing. I hope Ms. Stritch has a beautiful life in the great beyond.
