Charles Krauthammer has long been an icon of gravitas and intellect on the Right, a kind of sacred cow as a pundit, and this article takes him apart over his poor judgement and hot-headed hawkishness over the last ten to fifteen years. Anyone who has been irked by him while watching him on Special Report (which, lets face it, is all of us) will relish this: http://sheppardpost.com/charles-krauthammer-a-history/

(3,795 posts)But, it clearly is effective on many, many citizens, and the propagandists effectively manage enough of the people's thoughts and feelings so the propaganda itself is intelligent (on a certain level to get what they want).
Not all propagandists have to be intelligent though, and there are many that are not (i.e. Palin and many others).
I do believe Kraut is intelligent though. I put him in the camp of those who damn well know what they are deviously doing for their agenda.

(2,479 posts)He had credibility? Nope.
Basically, I'd just say I disagreed with his "opinions," at least when they were opinions. Like so many things said by right-wing writers, they are opinion dressed up as fact.

(64,427 posts)His practice was never successful no matter what the propaganda says. This was made manifest all the way back in the 80's.
He's a punk with a bad attitude because life wasn't as easy for him as he expected it to be.
It's everyone's fault who doesn't share his bitter world view.

(2,518 posts)...and I think it applies perfectly to Krauthammer as well:
"He's articulate, but not very bright."
That was like a revelation to me. I think the same is true of Billy Kristol. They can string together words very efficiently, and make their case rather persuasively. One column at a time. One interview at a time. They can sound pretty smart in the moment. But over the long run, it becomes very clear that these people really have no idea what they are talking about. They have no consistency whatsoever. They make what they are saying today sound right, but when you pay attention to them over a period of time, they are obviously just making shit up.
However, Will and Kristol at least have nice smiles and can be funny once in a while. Krauthammer, however, is just an evil-looking lizardman. He really does and has always given me the creeps. He's just a nasty man.
These people really need to just go away already.

(15,023 posts)Krauthammer is a man who, like the Republican Party itself, is consistently on the wrong side of every issue and on the wrong side of history. For as long as I've read his columns, he's always been for everything the GOP was for and against everything the Dems were for.
This is not a sign of intellect and gravitas. It's the sign of a snake oil salesman peddling the party line. The only difference between Krauthammer and Limbaugh is that Krauthammer is not as vicious, and he couches his insults in more refined terms. But make no mistake about it. He is just a mean-spirited as Limbaugh.

He's so good at arguing the non-existent merits of his shitty team, I'm surprised the Post hasn't moved him to the Sports page.
In summary, fuck that guy.

(18,124 posts)HE is a total RW loser. It figures Faux news would have him as a commentator. This guy is an idiot of the highest caliber. That chess board in front of him belies an ignorance and stupidity of worst kind. People like charlie here and media outlets like faux shows me the constant, slow, insipid dumbing down of the american populace continues. Sad that people like this get paid big bucks to lie, distract, deflect, obfuscate when the real intellects with compassion, intelligence and truth are marginalized by this society's PTB, both in media and politics. Sad what this country is turning into. A fascist, authoritarian government run by corporations and policed by a militarized force who shoot citizens first and ask questions later.

(9,426 posts)Charlie, Will, Kristol, loser McCain are all arrogant, pompous arses. No matter what our President does, he is wrong in their limited estimation. They miss the birdbrained W. Does anyone else find it curius that the low I.Q. people flock to the gop? They think if W was placed into the WH, then there is a chance for them, also too (to quote PayMe) Bob Schieffer was incredulous a few weeks ago saying "I am shocked at the discord in Washington. Nobody gets along, I have never seen anything like it" Well, DUH! I am not a highly paid pundit, but hey Bob, the clowns on YOUR side held a meeting on the FIRST Inauguration night for our ELECTED President, vowing to block everything he tried to do - EVERYTHING Chinless McConnel said his main job was to ensure President Obama was a one term president. Not jobs or healthcare for Kentucky, oh no. Why any working class citizen votes for these do nothings is stunning to me. Brainwashed, uneducated, racist MORONS.

(33 posts)Our Press protects their own. The only exceptions are if someone is caught in a comment of either racial or religious intent not politically correct. Beyond that, the Press looks the other way no matter how awful any particular journalist is.

Other exceptions, people who were shut down (lost their shows) for comments/opinions that were not racial or religious: Phil Donahue on MSNBC, Bill Maher on ABC. Arguably Dan Rather on CBS.
