Sanford itself has a bad history before this. African-Americans have endured centuries of pain that has not been acknowledged by America as a whole. Not just in Florida, not singling them out.

The Nazis going there to 'protect whites' is an act of denial of that history, since the blacks were the ones who have needed protection from whites, and it took the federal government to step in to make any progress.

Jeb Bush used every method to disenfranchise blacks from voting for Gore in 2000, even to the point of setting up blockades and false prison records from Texas to take them off the voting lists because they would vote against Bush.

This is 'in your face' racism pushed in the face of African-Americans. So as a nation we have not dealt with the people who are in the forefront, and find excuses to allow brown shirts to operate in Sanford, such as Tom Delay's congressional aides who bullied the poll workers in Palm Beach, to go unpunished.

The Congressional Black Caucus were the only ones who tried to not certify Bush in 2000. And still, very few people listen when blacks claim they are being discriminated against. It's sickening.

I know locally I have been in situations where they are present in uniform, and not a one member of the press will even take one photo.

If the riots of the 1960s are any guide, the Guard comes in last.

I grew up in Michigan. The TV bulletins on the first night of the riot ordered all State Police to report to their posts. The National Guard came in a little later. I remember staying up for the 11:00 pm news with my parents because something was obviously going wrong, but the bulletins didn't say what. We were all very sad that things had come to that.

I just hope that we don't see a repeat of the late '60s, particularly this summer. When people are tense and unhappy, it doesn't take much for some idiots to get things going.

Being "in position" and actually patrolling the streets are two different things. And one has to trust the word of Schoep himself to believe there are any neo-Nazis "in postion" in the first place.

Did some reading on Schoep. Some neo-Nazis refer to him and members of his group as "Hollywood Nazis" as they like to dress up in SS uniforms. He appears to currently unemployed and at least one member of his group has openly accused Schoep of using his position to gain sexual favors and for monetary gains.

More bark then bite, NSM relies heavily on shock value in order to get any attention at all. It remains to be seen if Jeff Schoep's proclamation that 20 heavily armed members of NSM, dressed in black BDUs, are now either in position in Sanford or are actively patrolling the streets of Sandford has any truth to it.

Edit: Jeff Schoep is a well known liar and we ought to be quite skeptical about anything he says.
