Like Bush and Cheney, Netanyahu NEEDS to keep his country at war to stay in power.

It's one thing to think that Israel should exist. And to support its existence out of a natural hatred of antisemtism.

But that's not what providing military aid to Benjamin Netanyahu and his militarist and(in the West Bank)colonialist regime means.

The Israeli Right is in power now solely because they have been able to keep their country under siege.

They have NO other appeal to the Israeli electorate.

The people of Israel want peace, as all people naturally do...but the leaders of this Israeli government does not.
And they cannot. Because peace would lead to their political extinction. A two-state solution would wipe all of the parties of the current governing coalition off of the electoral map.

An Israel at peace would never elect parties like Likud, or Beitenyu, or Naftali Bennett's party of illegal West Bank settlers, a party that wants to make not only Israel itself but the entire West Bank Arabrein. An Israel at peace would never elect and re-elect parties who keep their country suffering under brutally economic royalist austerity policies such as those pushed by this government. An Israel at peace would never keep electing parties that subsudize the settlement movement, a movement that exists for no other reason than to prevent the establishment of a Palestinian state. Nor would such a country keep in power a government that engages in such insane policies as the destruction of harmless Bedouin villages in the Negev Desert(a place where nobody BUT Bedouins want to live), the theft of ancient olive groves from the Palestinian farmers who have tended them for centuries, or the destruction of water systems and solar panels built by NGO's for Palestinian civilians just because they were built before the authorities approved them(as if their could be a good reason to deny approval for the construction of solar panels).

In giving unquestioning support and providing massive military aid for Israel's current government, we are not protecting the Jewish people...we are not fighting antisemitism(we may, in fact, be causing it to get worse)and we are not "fighting terrorism"...we are simply preserving the political careers of people who are nothing more than the Israeli versions of Bush, Cheney, and Rumsfeld.

There is no good reason for us to do this.

We need to stop giving a blank check for implements of death to a bandit government that exists solely to keep its own people at war with their neighbors.

Thanatos is currently winning, and yes, like Bush, Cheney, and so many others, Netanyahu is in thrall to that particular god.
