The Inquisitr News
Craigslist dog killer Jason Brown has been apprehended and charged with five felony counts of willful torture of an animal and one count of possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine). According to the Reno Gazette-Journal, Brown, 24, killed and dismembered five dogs in a Reno motel. At least two of the dogs, the site notes, were obtained from a woman trying to find a new home for the pets. Police arrested Brown on Wednesday afternoon. We recognize that this is a community that cares deeply for our animals, said Bob Harmon, of the Washoe County Sheriffs Office. So this is a hard story for everyone, and its a difficult investigation, and were going to continue investigating until this goes to court. (19,558 posts)It was 6 dogs in total he was caught torturing and killing. I'm skeptical that's the total number in reality.
A Reno man who's been accused of dismembering five dogs at a Super 8 Motel in Reno faces an additional charge of willfully torturing a sixth dog at another local hotel, according to court documents.
Jason Brown, 24, is accused of six felony counts of torturing or maiming and killing an animal and two counts of possession of a controlled substance, methamphetamine.
His bail was raised Friday to $70,000 cash, up from $35,000, Washoe County Deputy District Attorney Derek Dreiling said.
Dreiling said video evidence of a sixth dog that was tortured and killed was recently found taken at a different hotel.

The above article says the most he could theoretically go to jail for is 24 years.

(13,081 posts)They said that if it were a felony, it would be too onerous to then have to investigate it.
They sure do seem to have resources to arrest people for all kinds of ridiculous shit, but not protect the helpless.

(2,049 posts)things done to pigs, which are very simular to dogs in intelligence and behavior. It's amazing to me how one act is just fine and the other is evil. Very interesting compartmentalization of the mind

(8,554 posts)unless you're able to check out any prospective adopters, do follow-ups, and guarantee that the animal is adapting well to its new home and being properly cared for.
I can't even imagine how that owner of the two chihuahuas must be feeling now.
