Rubio: Gay marriage advocates often show ‘intolerance’ toward opponents

WASHINGTON — Americans who oppose same-sex marriage often face “intolerance” from those who support it, Republican Sen. Marco Rubio of Florida said Wednesday in a speech about values that appeared aimed at wooing social conservatives.

In remarks he said were likely to get him attacked as a bigot, the Florida Republican also complained to the audience at Catholic University about liberals who defend abortion rights for women but not protections for “the unborn.”

While Rubio has consistently held conservative positions on abortion and gay marriage, his current emphasis appears to be an effort to appeal to social conservatives who have yet to settle on a favored candidate for 2016.

“Even before this speech is over, I will be attacked as someone who is a hater or a bigot,” Rubio said.

For the life of me, I have never understood this concept of "rights" for the "unborn." FFS, the documents of our government talk about "born with", not "before you pop out".

As for his "suffering" of intolerance, join the club you shithead! The MAJOR difference, your fee-fees get hurt, whereas my rights are suppressed or are taken!

as "pro life" IF their belief carried forward and reflected a pro-life attitude for life after it has been born.

I would still argue that a decision about pregnancy is ultimately between a woman, her doctor and others she involves in her decision. That could be an unmarried partner, a one-night stand, her rabbi, priest, pastor, imam, mother, father, sibling, grandparent, friend, etc. But it is still her decision. She will have to live with that decision for the rest of her life and, according to the Bible thumpers, in death as well as she is judged for having taken the life of a "child".

But they are not consistent. They only care about getting the fetus into the world. They really don't care much about ensuring the mother (and the unborn) have access to adequate pre-natal medical care, a safe environment, nutritious food, etc. They just want to force the woman to keep the bun in the oven until it pops out.

They are not interested in the child once it is born. They don't care if the mother and child have access to affordable health care. They don't care if the parents and child have an appropriate time to bond (i.e. paid maternity AND paternity leave). They don't care if the child is raised in a safe environment. They don't care if the child has nutritious food. They don't care if the child has access to pre-K and other preparatory programs. They don't care if the child lives in a safe neighborhood. They don't care if the child gets a good foundational education. They don't care if the child, now a young adult, has to prostitute himself or herself for the rest of their lives when they take out student loans to get an education to be competitive in the world. They don't care if the child, now an adult, has access for themselves and for their children to affordable health care and the whole cycle begins again. They also don't care if we convict the wrong person and put them to death. They don't care they support killing in the form of war everywhere. They don't care they support killing in the form of capital punishment. They don't care their ridiculous love for their guns puts the entire country at risk because they won't allow common sense gun control.

The list goes on and on.

They want to extend rights to something that isn't entitled to rights over someone that does have rights.

Indeed you will, because you are. Self-recognition is the first step to becoming a better person. Don't be a "hater or a bigot" and the attacks will end. See how it works, Marco?

I can only think of my misspent youth where I read waaaay too many Superman comics.
Every now and then Supe would be attacked by this strange anti-Superman being called Bizarro.
Most folks here know of Bizarro and often use Bizarro as an analogy for the Republican thinking(?) process.
(You hate my bigotry so your a bigot against hate)

But I look at a Rubio and see him with the twisted features trying to make sense of his tortured logic.

Republicans, America's Bizarros!

That is the very definition of a hypocrite.

Some how Republicans love to picture themselves as Rambo often while crying on TV about being the horrible victim of mean liberals who say things they don't want to hear! It would be funny if they weren't in office.

It takes a Republican strong kind of man to hate another human being as a basic policy while standing up to horrible intolerant people that think your a small minded idiot for being such a small minded idiot. Somehow I think Rubio is just the small minded idiot for the job!

Republicans have the art of blaming their opponents for things that they do down pat, don't they?

I can't imagine this guy is stupid enough to actually believe that, considering the things that go on in D.C. He's just fond of getting donations from those that hate anything and everything Fox News tells them to hate. Jackass.

Maybe I'm wrong though - maybe he is that stupid, and since it is lucrative, he chooses to remain stupid.
