for allowing us to have objective discussions on the madness going on between Israel and Gaza which has led to the death of over 600 mostly innocent civilians in Gaza outside of the established forum.
I would also like to congratulate DUers for their objectivity. I love this place.

(11,833 posts)and am impressed with the level of discussion. It's a painful subject. I've learned a lot about what's going on, much about history. I love Israelis, Jews, Palestinians and Muslims. I can't stand what some do. The large majority want peace. It's difficult to reconcile peace with justice. Keep talking folks - many like me appreciate reading what each of you says.

(616 posts)This region has been "the elephant in the room" for a long time. We have been involved in proxy wars, including, I think, the Iraq War. It's been very frustrating to me not to be able to discuss it on a regular forum. If anything gets us into more military conflict, it will be this situation. We need to know what is being done in our name.

(41,505 posts)as I can't really talk to anyone close to me about this. I am happy to read all the discussions and see there is one going on.

(5,756 posts)Even though the current war is a "Big Story" worthy of exception to the usual GD rules I didn't see a current exception in forum's Big News exceptions so I keep posting in I/P so I won't get locked. I feel anyone who cares about it will see it there anyway.

thank you malaise,
DU is a "Community"
that is why it works so well for me...
as a "liberal" - I need LOTs of varieties of thoughts
so I can process on my own.
DU sure supplies that!
peace again to you,

(18,115 posts)And thanks to the admins. This is important news.
Israel won't stop until the body count is at least 1,000. They have a point to prove and muscle to flex.

(6,107 posts)maybe you should have just left it at thanking them for allowing the discussion.
Would have made it easier for some to join in the thanks.
(I'm not arguing about your death count by the way, though unlikel they were all innocent)
