One site I log onto used to want me to change my password every 6 months. And they wouldn't let me reuse a previous password.
Since I changed it to UR1MajorClusterfuck they haven't asked me to change it for 5 years now.

. . . wanted my phone # to verify it was me before allowing me to change my password - wouldn't accept it or give me any other options. Funny that this popped up around the same time . . .

Every 6 months? The IT department at my company are paranoid lunatics. I've had to change my password 54 times since I started working here.

if you followed "proper procedure", you would have a different password for every single account, change it at least once every 6 months, and none of the passwords would be easily cracked. and of course you can't write any of them down.

some websites require punctuation, others prohibit it.

then, of course, these bozos store your unencrypted passwords and let hackers have easy access to them....

What about the ones that require you input random letters that appear but every time you do it states wrong.
