NOT THE ONIONNRA pundit wants to make gun use mandatory for kids
The National Rifle Association wants schoolchildren to learn their three Rs: reading, writing, and rifle-shooting.
In a new video titled Everyone Gets a Gun, NRA commentator Billy Johnson makes the case that everyone children included should be required to handle firearms. What if, instead of gun-free zones, we had gun-required zones? Johnson asks. Gun policy driven by our need for guns would insist that we introduce young people to guns early.
Under this system, children would study gun use in school just like we teach them reading and writing, necessary skills, Johnson says. It wouldnt matter if they didnt want to learn. We would make it necessary to advance to the next grade.

According to Johnson, however, guns should not only be available to everyone, but be subsidized by the government. Perhaps we would have government ranges, where you can shoot for free, he says, or a yearly allotment of free ammunition.

No problem with 'big government' subsidizing guns, huh?

(14,337 posts)Hell, can ADULTS Opt out of this program? I didn't want my now grown children to learn how to use guns in schools, and I sure as hell don't want to myself as an Adult and a Senior. Go away, NRA, from the wife of one of your members. TAKE THAT ONE, NRA.
BTW, there are a lot of gunners right here on DU who think that every child and adult need to know "gun safety".

Some of us manage to get through life quite nicely without EVER having touched a gun in our lives.
