Israel the 'Pariah State'? UK Foreign Minister Warns Western Support is Waning as Gaza School Shelled

Britain's Foreign Secretary Philip Hammond has warned Israel that it was losing support in Western countries over its Gaza offensive.

Israel launched air strikes against militants in the tiny coastal strip 17 days ago in a bid to halt rockets being fired into Israel from Gaza. The aerial assault was reinforced seven days later by a ground offensive.

"As this campaign goes on and the civilian casualties in Gaza mount, Western public opinion is becoming more and more concerned and less and less sympathetic to Israel," Hammond told Sky News.

"I am appealing to my Israeli counterparts, to their Western values, to do everything they can in exercising their legitimate right to self-defence to minimize the casualties that are caused," he added.

When Israel is done with this "operation" it'll continue the gung-ho settlement/ghettoization process in what they call "the territories of Judea and Samaria", completing the cleansing of Area C, while continuing the forever siege on Gaza. The day to day oppression will continue, becoming more and more refined, and the Palestinians will be forced into smaller and smaller and more separate and disconnected boxes. The Bedouin will be even more totally fucked. There will be no end to it because the entire process has total support from "The West".

This is slow motion ethnic cleansing that all the world should recognize, but apparently no non-Muslim countries care to see. Or maybe the West knows exactly what is happening but fears groups like AIPAC.

The Israeli strategy has used gradual steps, just small enough to keep the rest of the world from coming down on them too hard. Of course, the whole process has been totally enabled and underwritten by a subservient USA.

It's the U.S. specifically that's the problem.

4. I think he should have left out 'western values'. The West has no moral authority here, it will

have to be from some other nation that has not engaged in similar war crimes themselves. Which is hard to find in the West.

Perhaps it's time for South American and African Nations, also victims themselves of 'Western Values', to be the ones to help end this.

Iraq, Libya, Syria, Somalia, and throughout history, Latin America, Africa, all victims of Western Colonialism.

I agree with what he says, but it might be smarter not to hand Israel the opportunity to point out the UK's role in recent criminal wars, torture etc together with its Western allies.

The West is in the process of instigating yet another devastating war.

Perhaps he is one of those who has opposed all of these terrible wars, but the UK has about as much moral authority as we do.
