Wow....don't mess with Texas. But is this really the best solution?
BURNET, Texas (KXAN) A man found guilty on felony charges of driving while intoxicated was sentenced to life in prison by a Burnet County jury on Tuesday.
It took a jury less than 30 minutes to find 46-year-old Terry Lynn Stevens guilty. Driving while intoxicated is a felony offense after a person has been convicted two or more times. Stevens had been convicted of DWI six times in the past.

It would have been only a matter of time before he killed or paralyzed someone.

problem. Do they need others to help them?

(21,925 posts)Even being under house arrest for life is better than prison for life. This guy is a sick alcoholic and needs extended treatment to kick his addiction. I guess he'll get the chance to dry out behind bars for the rest of his life. Apparently his last arrest involved driving his car into a fence. If he's never seriously injured someone through his various DUIs, I think life imprisonment on the mere prospect of injuring someone in the future is a bit harsh, especially if they haven't exhausted all possibilities to control him or treat him.
