6. MB Staff does'nt have the "whipped dog" look like Wal-Mart

MB's managers are in the stores, on the floor, backing up their staff, talking to customers, you know - managing! At the other big chains, they're in hiding. Hannaford seems to run more like MB, but has a lot more glitz/internal marketing going on, thus a somewhat higher cost base, and somewhat less responsive customer service.
