O.M.G. U.S. man undergoes circumcision only to wake up and find his entire penis amputated.

The hospital has another view of the matter and says it will defend itself in the upcoming lawsuit. Odd indeed!

snip

Something was absent without leave when Johnny Lee Banks came out of the anaesthetic after what should have been a routine circumcision at a hospital in Birmingham, Alabama, last month. That, at least, is the claim in a medical malpractice suit filed this week that has men across the state, if not America, clenching their midriffs in horror.

snip

When the plaintiff … woke from his aforesaid surgical procedure, his penis was amputated,” the lawsuit states. It goes on to contend that no one at the Princeton Baptist Medical Centre in Birmingham has been able to explain why it had become necessary to remove the entire organ rather than just the foreskin as he had expected.

clutch their genitals in horror every time they consider female genital mutilation. It sucks that this happened to him, but it also sucks when millions of women undergo FGM at the hands of their male dominated cultures.

Many men need too have it done later in life.

A gall bladder removal is a routine operation but that does not mean everyone has one.

Occasionally, but not rarely, older men with excess foreskin would come in for a circumcision because of chronic infections; primarily because it's difficult to keep their penis clean with the hooded tip. It was a very simple procedure done under local anesthesia with sedation.

was being circumcised in the first place.

There's just a little bit missing from the article.

added on edit:

At least he had general anesthesia. Most of the time FGM happens without any anesthesia at all.

When I went in for shoulder surgery the Dr signed his name on my left shoulder to be operated on and wrote "not this one" on my right shoulder. My dad's Dr did the same for his knee replacement.

Whole lotta jokes about the poor guy. Unreal. Medical malpractice is sooooo funny. I remember the time the Dr. punctured my mothers lung after heart surgery. So hilarious! And the time a surgeon left a sponge in my sister after an appendectomy....best time ever. We laughed for days as she lay in severe pain racked with infection.
