When confronted with evidence Hamas was not responsible...

...for the kidnap and murder of three Israeli teens, Netanyahu asked "What are you Tonkin about?".

When his veracity was questioned about the slaughter at Khuza'a he responded "What, My Lai?".

I felt ambivalent writing it. Is it satire, cynicism, snark, or something else completely?

But I had been following Khudza'a and remembering the stain of My Lai. And then saw a post tending to support as fact that Hamas was not guilty of sanctioning the kidnap and killing of the teens and that in fact Netanyahu both likely knew this and yet used it as a pretext to war....in short, his "Gulf of Tonkin" incident.

All I can say is I see the parallels of pretext and atrocity and felt the pull of deja vu. And I wonder who in the Israeli government will make it to roof and the helicopter and who will be left behind.

I do apologize for not explaining more clearly....Cat
