You have to understand what this means here in NH, MA and ME. It is so crowded in these stores that my friend and I won't even venture near here on any Saturday. Customers are honoring the Market Basket boycott until the old management is re-instated.

(59,440 posts)The managers are outside right along with the workers protesting this. I saw customers on the street outside MB in Haverhill waving signs this morning.

(2,282 posts)"This protest is not just about MB employees and customers, nor is it just about defending what's right in supporting a great, generous, loyal and humble man ...Something most people don't understand is that this is not just a Market Basket customer problem. Every Supermarket chain in New England keeps a close eye on Market Basket's pricing, particularly on staple items that everyone buys. If MB stops the price pressure it will be a free for all for all stores resulting in a regional inflation for everyone. Even if you aren't a MB customer, this man, his team and his company has benefited everyone in New England in one way or another! Everyone should show a great deal of respect for his will to refrain from falling into the allure that leads to greed but rather puts his heart and soul out there to do what is right and fair!!! BRING BACK ARTIE T!!!!" -Susan Laramie

(4,192 posts)Plenty of good reasons to boycott Walmart as well. When I see all the people going to shop there as I pass by, it becomes clear to me that our economic problems are just as much a self-inflicted wound as they are something that is done *to* us.

(16 posts)is empty too. That store is packed all the time except some mornings during the week and now it's almost empty. Even the conservatives in my family are boycotting.

(7,318 posts)Looks like early morning. Our equivalent store here in the west, Safeway, has very few cars on Saturday mornings until after 9 am.
Did the lot stay this empty all day?
