Ruth Bader Ginsburg Delightfully Responds to Admirer's Wedding Invite

It's not uncommon for people to send wedding invitations to celebrities or their personal heroes as a token of appreciation with no expectation for a response. While the recipient may not even lay eyes on the invitation, it's still an interesting and sweet gesture to reach out to those who have had a big impact on your life and invite them to the most expensive, exhausting and exciting party you'll throw.

When Staci Zaretsky, a writer over at Above the Law sent an invitation along with a hand-written letter to Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg expressing her admiration for the inspirational figure, she realistically did not expect Justice Ginsburg to get back to her. But alas, she was wrong. She received a kind note from Ginsburg a FULL WEEK before the RSVPs were due:

How amazing is that?! Ruth Bader Ginsburg is an American Hero and one gracious lady. And as Zaretsky notes, she puts most wedding invitees to shame:

P.S. A Supreme Court justice took the time to respond to our wedding invitation, and yet we still have 50+ outstanding RSVPs. I hope you have a really good excuse for keeping us waiting, friends.

I love, love, love her!!!

I respond to all invitations with RSVPs. We say no to most, because we hate the social butterfly crowd but we do usually attend weddings because we know someone in the wedding party.

No, I KNOW I'm old. RSVP's are so important. It's maddening trying to plan a big, expensive event, and not knowing the numbers. It shouldn't even be necessary to include a response card with a wedding invitation, just seeing RSVP on the invitation, and a bit of common sense, should prompt one to send a note, accepting or declining the invitation.

Geez, Granny's grumpy today.

Awesome for that bride to have that letter from RBG, though.

although we come from big families so we'll continue to receive wedding invitations.
Truth is we turn down most of them.

I got a really nice card from them. I'll never forget that day. It was Senior Week, we had half days of classes then graduation practice and then we had the rest of the afternoon off. A bunch of friends of mine were driving around and stopping at everyone's houses to check the mail for graduation cards ($). When we got to my house there was only one card but it was propped up on the TV and the return address said "The White House." I guess you had to be there but it was really cool.
